MDA-caster. My most complex build to date.

Thought I'd share a build I'm about to do for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I'm just doing the body and slowlaneguitars.com is going to do final assembly and auction the guitar.

This will be similar to my Tattocaster (seen in my avatar and in the Strat section). However, I've worked the letters "MDA"into the design. I'm also taking the design around the entire guitar, front and back.

It's a Warmoth alder body with a rear-rout.

Here are pics of (1) the body in the box, (2) the design penciled on the guitar and (3) a Photoshop approximation of what the finished body will look like. We'll see how close I get!  :-\

That's really interesting.  I love the idea, and would love to see the 'tattoocaster' too.
I could probably execute such a thing, but I don't think I could have actually designed it, that's the awesome bit.  :icon_thumright:

Just as the 'tattoo" very cool and for a noble cause, I salute you.. :eek:ccasion14:

If you'd like, I'd donate a custom neck plate for the project.. :icon_thumright:

Thanks DangerousR6. If you'd like to donate the neck plate, contact Dennis Kalkowski. You can find his info at slowlaneguitars.com. He's the one who commissioned me to do this body.

Following and loving your stellar work Sir

I really like the, not so normal look, that you do  :icon_thumright:

:rock-on:

I've started carving the MDA-caster. Here are the first few days worth of work. I'm using both a Dremel and hand chisel to rough out the basic design.

Going a little deeper. All hand chisels and sandpaper from this point on. I had to glue a piece of polar inside the control cavity as the carving was getting dangerously close to going through on the front side.
