Ok, this one came out looking more like Pepsi than Buck Owens. The clear stripe was just a last minute idea. Still...

I'm thinking something more like a red/bue  or blue/green swirl/(ala yin yang but not in particular) spilling out onto the neck might be cool. I don't know why I'm even doing this - maple top is not in my next umpteen planned builds.

:dontknow:
1) Needs black binding on the body and neck
2) Needs a burst to the red and blue
3) Ya need red inlays in the blue & blue inlays in the red.

Definitely NOT my style at all.
But I liked the mock-up that ya did on GreatApes maple neck (that he has just done)

Interesting thou ...  :icon_biggrin:

I like it just like that. It's strange, I'll admit it, but I like it.

I didn't think anything about Pepsi until you said it

I was just trying to kick some ideas loose. I'm not really crazy about the example I posted in this therad at all now, even though I DO still think that the concept of dying portions differently could really rock.  The one I stuck in the GAS thread I actually like a lot better, but that body was already finished and it was easier to color map and look nice.

I do rather like Doug's concept though.

Interesting, I plan on doing something down this same path. I plan on dyeing a piece of art across the whole guitar down the neck, headstock and back of the neck. Can't wait to see how your's comes out.

Maybe more a bit more like this:

Although I'm quickly coming to the opinion that the neck is skinny enough that it doesn't need to be doing much. It can BE a color, or even a gradient, but whatever it is needs to be simple. There's a lot more room on the body for getting crazy.

I still prefer that first one. I'd buy it.
