hey guys I just picked up a Solid state Marshall MG amp for real cheap. I had heard a ton of bad things about this amps tone and how much they suck.

however I feel like I dialed in a pretty good blues tone out of this amp. I want all yalls feedback on the tone(pardon my crappy  licks haha)

MG head pushing a MG 4x12 cab and a Vox 4x12 cap

recorded with my macbooks built in Mic.

sound clip soon to be added by Max (thanks a ton man)

Not a bad blues tone for a solid state amp... are you using a warmoth guitar? and is the reverb a pedal? or is it added latter by any software.?

Nice one.
Very reminiscent of teh solo tone on Paul Weller's 'You do something to me'

Like it.

no i used a PRS McCarty trem single cut. neck pickup untapped. (my warmoth guitar has a single bridge EMG 81. so I wasnt feeling it for a blues tone.)

this recording was the first time I picked up any other guitar besides my warmoth since I finished it though!

the reverb is built into the amp. no software was used at all. it was dry recorded in my bedroom using the mic on my laptop.

I mean its not a vintage bassman or other classic fender tube tone but i think it sounds pretty good for a solid state amp that gets a really bad rap and was sooooo cheap!

Ya, I've got one those, they're not bad, they could just be better, oh and they are REALLY heavy on the bass, even with the knob all the way down, it still has too much bass.

def not a crowd killer amp for sure BUT for 100bucks for the head and matching cab (like new with tags still on it) cables and footswitch it can hold its own.

Ugh....how bout 5/10? I mean, Ive got  tube 60's Sunn,  a 70's Marshall ,  Another 70's Traynor and couple  other boutique style amps.
I promise you one thing, the widely publiscized  reviews of the OP's amp are legit. Its a 5/10. You can do way worse, and trust me..you can do much much better.

if you dont mind me asking....how much did you pay for all those shinny amps???? I just cant see finding any of those amps for very cheap.

Honestly?, at this point it aint about money. Im not trying to wizz in your flakes, and Im not bragging.
I bought those a,mps over the last few years when i had a spurt of energy and the last of the best stuff seemed to be popping up. I got alot of great deals on stuff i wouldn't normally have considered buying . Be that as it may, the economy has hit me real hard, and your probably better off with your amp than to have my stuff and be sweating all the money i put out( and some I still owe, about 3 grand.)
Sooo, its more about tone that im talking, and theres a reason I spent all that money that i did instead of just buying your amp and letting things go at that. The reason?  Capitol T.. o...  n.. E!.
I'm not knocking your rig, and I'm sure it gets some nice  tones, but lets call a spade a spade ; its not an upper echelon amp and will never get you top shelf sound.

Though my version of the MG is old, and I think there is a newver version that may be better or maybe they just changed the logo.
