Lot's of Clear Now!

I was being too careful before and wasn't really getting that much lacquer on it. Especially around the edges. This time I really coated it with about two cans. I let it set for about two weeks.

Did some light sanding with 600. Guess I start with 1000 now. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

That looking better, here is my suggestion for wet sanding. Be very careful on edges and sharp corners or you will sand through.
1. Start with 1000 wet/dry and soak the paper in water over night. This helps it to not load up as quickly, I don't know why but it works.
2. Use distilled or filtered water and mix some Murphy’s Oil Soap in it to help with lubrication. Do a small section and wipe it off with paper towels about every 30 seconds or so.  You will be able to feel and hear the paper change as the surface gets level.
3. Use a block of some short so that it is level.
4. Do not let the water soak into any holes or it will seep out and crack the finish. I use miner oil around ferrule and neck holes as a lube.
5. Once the surface is totally flat you can go to 2000 or polish it out, that is up to you and the quality of the polishing compounds you use.
