It's not illegal unless you sell it.

you can put on whatever you want, as long as when you sell it, if you sell it you disclose what it is...

Having said that, why would you want people to think it's a gibbon?

he's already put warmoth at the top. he just wants the "les paul" in the middle of the headstock. so a Warmoth Les Paul.

I recently had the same problem. I bought from the gallery and even when it got here, it still said waiting to ship? I talked to Warmoth and they said it's been acting up lately. So I woudn't worry too much.

as stated above i am not putting GIBSON on the guitar i was asking about the LES PAUL name, the headstock is going to have the Warmoth logo on in i was just curious about the les paul name

He's dead, he won't mind. Don't forget, he didn't care about the company, he liked the design. (think SG)

I know, but "Les Paul" is still trademarked too, it might as well be Gibson.  I responding more to other posts.

yea i know thats why i was asking lol no flames here just curious ill put something else there then :)

its even legal if you sell it with 'gibson' on the head, as long as you don't try to sell it as an authentic one. though I wouldn't do it; I'm proud to play warmoth!

It's not illegal for you  to do it.  Put it on there.

There's a forum member that made his own Rickenbacker bodies.  Rickenbacker got wind of it, sent him notice that it was fine as long as he didn't sell them.  Even the Fender logos floating around on the internet, those are illegal to sell (not to buy), and the sites selling them have a little disclaimer like, "Please keep this site private and do not post links on forums."  Warmoth although licensed to reproduce the Fender headstock shape can not apply the Fender logo, but you can.  Ebay is always having auctions closed prematurely for people selling non-liscensed stuff like this.

If you're selling a guitar with logos on it, I would avoid headstock shots.

my logic is it's a Warmoth Les Paul -- even if it's not, I just did it for the hell of it. Found the decal on ebay for $10 - came with a gibson decal as well.

bit off topic, but I'm not a big fan of Warmoth logo...
I think this logo makes the guitar look cheap.
It's a shame because they make high quality products.
Just an opinion.

i did try to capture a bit of the gibson / epiphone logo i dont know i think it came out some what ok tell me what you think.

This isnt a font i actually used photoshop and worked with some of there logo styles to get what i have its nothing fancy and is still a rough cut as you can see some angles are off but thats why its a rough cut :)
