Has anybody here used any of these? I've got a craving for a wireless, and these seem to be the units to have from what I've read.

I have a G30 and love it dearly. My only points of criticism are the instrument cable that came with it (and which I very quickly replaced) and the fact that they only work with alkaline AA's. Those last me about three rehearsals per pair and I don't really consider that a blessing for our environment. It would have been nice if at least the top of the line G90 had offered a Lithiium cell option. But it does what it is supposed to do in a very reliable and interference-free way.

AA cells are the most common rechargeables there are. Will the thing not work with them? I know some devices don't like them because they only go to 1.2vdc rather than 1.5vdc, so the battery looks dead (or nearly so) even when the battery is fully charged.

Verbatim quote from the G30 manual: "For best results, use only non-rechargeable alkaline batteries"

They don't say that rechargeables won't work and they also don't say how much better the results will be. I's not just the difference in nominal voltege, the discharge curves of the two types of batteries are also very different.

I know this is 6 years old, but i thought I'd take the time to say that i have the G90 and it's unbelievable. I use lithium batteries and it lasts about two gigs. I've never dropped signal, the tone is almost identical to using a 20 ft cable, and i can walk to the back of the bar and get a beer while playing

Just curious, did you ever buy one?
:laughing7:

When I worked in a music store a long time ago I once had a customer that asked about a certain guitar wireless system. I showed it to him and said;
"This is what the transmitter looks like, here's the receiver and this is the power supply for the receiver. A complete kit that will take you up and running without any hassle."
He looked at it and asked;
"Doesn't it come with a power supply for the transmitter as well? I don't want to use batteries all the time."
:dontknow:  :doh:

Yes. A G90 w/ two transmitters. Lovely thing. highly recommended. But, as I feared, it eats batteries as if they're free and rechargeables are a non-starter. Fortunately, bulk alkalines aren't very expensive online.

I want another transmitter for mine, but It's hard to find around here, without shipping over the border.

In the end I got a G90 in addition to the G30 I already had. If you take into account that the G30 has a limited subset of the frequencies of the G90 they mix and match quite nicely. Still very happy with both of them.
