Lacquer Repair (pics added)

In the process of driving in the trem posts I got some cracks and chips in the finish... (Note to self, always put the posts in first) Its what I feared would happen and had my anxiety levels quite high.

Its done, so now how to fix it. Duplicolor Perfect match lacquer on alder. I am thinking that since it was lacquer, I could spray some of the paint in to a cup and use a small brush to touch it up. The metallic won't lay well doing it that way but they are small spots. I am hoping that the fresh paint will "melt in" like a fresh layer of paint and heal the cracks, but I have never done this before. Suggestions?

You can get away with painting before installing the posts if you use a countersink bit to put an ever so gentle chamfer around the top perimeter of the hole.  Back in 2009 when I worked at Warmoth, I remember Kevin in the shop doing that on some painted bodies from the showcase when customers spec’s their trem preferences.  Of course, The Aaron may comment if they are doing things differently now as I’ve been away from there for quite a few years now.

That is a great idea actually.  I will keep that in in the notebook. Its a rookie mistake for sure but now I need to fix it.  I will strip it if need be but I am hoping to learn some repair skills if I can and see what happens before I take the nuclear option... I need to do something sooner rather than later though so I don't run out of decent weather to paint if I need to

I Removed loose paint, cleaned and abraded area, primed.

I will probably shoot another coat of clear over whole guitar if the colors come out decent
