Swamp ash WGD body  , planed 1/8* back  and 1/4 " front

"Tummy cut"  bevel and upper bout resonant chamber routed , rougly the  same volume as control cavity, i,e 1/2 depth , 2 x length.  The concept is to allow more resonance next to your body to feel the string vibes better..    Top cap cut .. the back gets a matcing set from the same tree .

will there be a back laminate? I wasn't expecting to see the chambers routed on the back like that

He said in the first post "back gets a matching set from the same tree", so my guess is... yeah. But, I could be wrong.

Very interesting, never seen it gone about that way before...Cool  idea tho... :icon_thumright:

it certainly isn't a novel concept ,  I found several luthiers that used it . ,  and it works well if you take your time.

Wow, that looks like an awesome project, and it should look killer with the Koa top and back!  It would also be interesting to see what kind of shape you have planned for the headstock.  From the picture it looks like it will be difficult to reach 23rd/24th frets, though I could be wrong as the pieces weren't precisely aligned.  This will be a very interesting build indeed.

lurking in the grain ... a Dragon head for the headstock!

Now to find something cool to inlay for the eyes ....

I know a guy who used a couple "Linde Stars" for eyes on an inlaid gremlin, which are artificial sapphires and are very attractive while being very inexpensive.

The "star" you see isn't in the stone, it's the way the stone reflects the light, so the centerpoint follows you around as your point of view changes. They come in a pretty wide variety of colors, and their natural star-shaped chatoyance is very attractive. It's a pretty cool effect, and it's not so ostentatious that anybody will point and laugh. Much.

pretty cool ,  there's a little shop inthe mountains that has all kinds of cool small rocks from around the world .... I'm sure I''ll find someting  wild

Absolutely georgous!  Are you going to inlay a medalion ala "Tiger" or "Wolf"? Mabee a Dragon in the Alembic style? Great work so far brother, I cant wait to see it done!

That's going to be sweet!

What's up with the control cavity shape? Is there something unusual going in there?

WOW another beaut  :icon_thumright:

Between yourself (greywolf ) & AggieTreed .... You guys are good !!
Great work  :o

Some outstanding threads going on here in (A Work In Progress)  :toothy10:

Shouldn't that have a bridge by now, or did you opt out of that feature? I'm not sure gaffer tape is gonna be strong enough to hold the strings on once you start wankin' on the thing <grin>

Lookin' good, though.

The bridge is a gold  stopbar by Jason Schroeder  , there is a bit more body shaping to be done first .
