Kinman P90s - Should I use 2 or 3?

It's straightforward if you have a template, a router and a mortising pattern-follower bit or two. Probably want to watch that you don't dig through to the spring cavity if the body has one, but that should be easy to avoid. Not sure it would hurt anything, but it just seems wrong.

I have to say if you don't have any time on a router, you don't want to start climbing the learning curve on a nice guitar body. They can be wicked tools in that they can get away from you easily and do a helluva lotta irreversible damage in a hurry. Get some scrap to practice on so you can get a feel for it.

I think you'd be screwed for mounting P90s at that point, if your rout went right through the body. Where them screws gonna go?

I'll stick a lump of wood on the back!

There is a guide to doing it somewhere, I'll find it, there is room

Re: the Callaham bridge. I understand that their machining quality is supposed to be first rate and they don't use cheap quality metal. Have a look at their site.

:guitarplayer2: .. I've just installed two Kinman P90 .... great PKUPs.... fantastic sound, no noise in any combination !! really recommended ( I don't have any link with that company :) ). I think two are enough to produce a good sound

I don't know if they would mate, but how about kinmans in the neck and bridge positions and a duckbucker in the middle?

I would go just 2 X Kinman P90s, no middle pickups. I've never understood the desire for a middle pickup when fitting two hum buckers or similar.

This will be my next build, a PRS type of guitar with 2 X P90. That will complete my set.  :toothy10:
