We need details...
...of course you do  :)

I've never been too much of a fan of 'exotic' guitars, but rather been into the whole early 80s frankenstein thing (was too young back then though to actually 'live it').

So far I've been playing heavily modded Strats, mostly used to buy used Fenders and mod the hell out of them. This time I thought it's probably even cooler to get exactly what I want.

Here's the list:

Strat body, alder, singlecoil neck, bridge humbucker, recessed Floyd, contoured heel, side jack, daphne blue

Flame maple neck, dark indian rosewood, wolfgang contour, 6100 frets, mother of pearl dots, vintage glossy tint with matching daphne blue headstock

Hardware is gonna be all black. Black Schaller Floyd, black scratchplate, HipShot locking tuners, 1 volume, 3 way switch , 3 way mini toggle for the humbucker. Haven't decided 100% on the P.U.s yet, but it's probably gonna be a Suhr FL Classic neck and Suhr DSV bridge.

like I said, probably nothing too exciting, but exactly what I wanted !

It needs a middle single-coil... :P
Funny that you should say that. Actually it IS routed for a middle SC as well, but I'm not gonna put one in straight away, but wanted to have the option just in case. Never been big on the inbetween Strat sounds and if I need it I can still use one of my other Strats or the neck and the bridge in split together (which works great as well) or if nothing else works...put one in later...

It took me a while to make my mind up on wether to have mine routed for 2 hummers or 1 hummer and 1 single coil.  In the end I chose the 2 humbuckers.  But the next one I do may go with the other way.

Some guys may think differently, but it's not 100% about how it sounds, it's about also of how it looks... I bet that if Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and some guys like this didn't look cool, they would be known to a few guitar players, not for the whole world... they are known because they sound amazing and because they looker very cool doing it... Do not put down the value of look, the marketing department guys are always there to prove it's very good when well done...

Ahh...I get your point. Your saying a Strat needs to have the middle SC to look 'correct'. I agree when it comes to Strats with a SC in the bridge. IMHO, when there's a humbucker in the bridge it quickly starts to look crowded. So in a way my decision was based on looks as well. But like I said, I'd always have the option to add one later if I wanted to. The rout is there.

I'm the same way.

I'm in the middle of doing a red strat with a Bucker in the bridge, and a SC in the neck...no middle pup.
As far as looks, I think it looks cool! It's gonna let more pickguard show, and, like you said, keep things from getting crowded.

+1 on the middle coil looking more "correct" with the bridge SC
