Backorders suck.  I hope they get this sorted out for you soon.

Now you can go back to thinking about that amp you've been saving up for though.  :headbang:
I can indeed. Budget is now $400 AUD and whatever my marshall sells for.

Yeah, but here in the future, we still haven't found a way to make the post quicker.

Argg.

Still have to wait at least a week, maybe two. Stupid part is, the pedal comes into Aus in Melbourne, then has to travel up the highway past me to Sydney to the store, then back to me after the second payment has been made.

Wana, by now you should realise that our music scene is totally stuffed! A lot of the technology we here in Australia are swooning over has been in other parts of the world for probably 12 months. Our International Importers/Distributors are so small they can't afford to bring a stock load of something that mightn't sell & they have to wait til the manufacturers are happy to transform their mains electric powered stuff over to Australian specs.

I've been very lucky recently in finding a US Bass gear retailer that sells overseas and got a Sansamp Bass Driver DI for about half waht I got quoted for the same item from a music store retailer in Tuggerah, NSW. It got to me in a week too.

Usually we Aussies won't have much luck because if the gear we want is mains powered we have to wait for it to made for Australian standard electricity specs, but if you are going after a DI box (can work off 48v Phantom power) like I did or a stomp box that can be powered by a 9v generic plug from an electronics retailer, you are in luck. But the trick is to find a retailer overseas that can sell to us - most of the time they can only sell within their own country due to Manufacturer/Distributor agreements on our own country.

If you can find a better deal on the net I'm sure you would have found it by now, but keep an eye out for an occasional bargain. Otherwise, suck in your gut and hold on for the backorder to arrive. Best of luck, mate and a belated Happy Birthday.

LATE EDIT: I've just checked the specs of that Pedal, has a 16v socket for the power.  :icon_scratch: First time I think I have seen 16volts  :dontknow:. That is going to be a hard match to make, if you buy from overseas and need to match up in Australia. Maybe best staying with the retailer and ensuring you get the right plug for the unit.

Oh, and when you do get the Pedal, better make sure you keep a hold of that plug, and ensure it isn't plugged into any 9v pedals if the plugs happen to fit!

That's nuts.....425 AUD = 364 USD.  You could have that pedal and a Squire here for that.

Blue, the DI I was mentioning was ranging in price - in Australia - from $475 - 599 Australian dollars. What's that in US$ this week (Aussie dollar near parity to US $ I think?).

But I got it delivered to my door, with traceable postage from the USA, for a conversion cost of Aus$ 277!

Now, tbf, if the Aussie dollar takes a dive [and it has done that in the past], then the item gets a lot more expensive, and possibly out of reach for your budget.

The insulting thing is the retailers will tell you the price, you baulk, they then believe they do you a favour by shaving off $50 of the sale price. There is barely any haggling going on, you might get a drop in price to a degree but what an item is actually worth on the street here, to what you pay for the item, new, in the first place is obscene.

I learnt my lesson the hard way when I had to sell my Mackie CR1604. Damn good mixer in it's day (it was only 2 years old at that point), mint condition, IN A ROAD CASE, and it sat on the shelves of a retail store for 6 months before someone made a decent offer for it on consignment. Lost a lot of money on that transaction ($1000+).

I still have nightmares about that period of my life, and part of that is due to the way that retailers treated me with the resale of some near new gear. The street hard sale value is very low compared to what we Aussies pay for the gear new.

I am really tempted to take my DI up to the retailer I spoke to last week and show him what I bought and the tell him the price! I believe the $277 price tag is more in tune with what the item is worth to the Australian muso than the bloated $500 figure.

I suspect that someone, somewhere is making a hell of a lot of money on sales to overseas markets.  :icon_scratch:

What is still being paid for my pedal was a price that I haggled down.  I think it was $500, then I sad no, look I can find these ones one ebay (even though they are overseas, it is still less shipped) then 50 bucks was shaved off (as mentioned), then I said no again, that's still obscene which at that point it was a different guy who oohhed and ahhhhd and said the best I can do is take another 25 bucks off. Just a lucky thing I wasn't paying!

Pete, I think this store may be up near you. Haworth Guitars.

It's good that you got some price off the pedal. Yeah best wait for the item to come in, and I said earlier, best isolate that plug from your other pedals, if it fits the other pedals (that are 9v) you could cause some damage.

Hopefully the 16v plug will have a different sized plug and won't be able to be plugged into a 9v pedal by mistake.

Conor, Haworth Guitars are in Albion Park Rail, over near Wollongong, on the NSW Illawarra region. I'm up on the NSW Central Coast [God's country mate! :icon_thumright:], Tuggerah to be precise - further north of the 'Gong and Sydney. Thankfully I no longer live in Sydney and I can't wait for the day I don't have to commute to work to that huge sewer.

We have Macron Music and Steve Forrest Music near me, and Muso's Corner is 'up the road' in Scumcastle  :icon_tongue:, er,  Newcastle. The guys at Macron wwere the ones who thought that my DI box was worth $549. Idiots.

I'll put bright red or fluorescent orange tape on the plug so that I can't get it confused!
Sounds like a good place to live! Beach, music shops, other things that have some significance..... :laughing7:

Yep, pretty good up here, but the struggle is commuting to and from Sydney for work. A lot of us 'Coasties' do that and it's quite the grind.

I'm hanging on to my bus driving job for now, but I'm not impressed that my medical examinations each year are costing a fair bit just so the Authorities can say I am allowed to drive a bus.

That's why I'm harping on about protecting your hearing etc. all the time on this forum and elsewhere, as it is my hearing that may end up finishing me as a bus driver. Have another medical in October for this year, and it's gunna cost me about $700 to have the Specialist give me hell with a hearing test that leaves you with a headache and he has the final say whether I go driving any buses after that...... DON'T DAMAGE YOUR HEARING!!!! (If you don't see any posts from me after early October, you can assume I have been rubbed out due to poor hearing and have gone troppo.  :help: :blob7:)

One last final rant about the plug for the Duncan pedal. It is 16 v AC, quite a different animal to the usual 9v DC pedals you see. Duncan's website explains why it's a 16v AC plug in technobabble, so hang onto that plug - it will be hard to replace.

Shall do!

And for my hearing, I protect my ears with the buds. Whenever I go over to my mates place, he'll insist on full volume. I can hear him playing from my place, and he lives about 2 kms away!
