Just ordered a Taylor UPDATE WITH PICS on pg 6!

When I visited the factory a couple years ago, they were hiring, but I live 2 hours away.  I was very tempted to relocate though.

My guy at the shop says that he has been on the phone with the factory once a week for the last month calling about it, and that they say they're getting close, probably shipping in the next week or two.  The shop owner says someone else ordered one 3 weeks before me and it still isn't there either.  The factory is very very busy right now, not enough people or equipment to fill the overwhelming demand for Taylors this year.

The shop guy says he'll call me next week when he thinks he'll have a shipping date.

Of course I would decide to finally get one when they're crazy busy.

Aaaagh! This is not what I want to hear. I plan on placing an order for a Taylor this week and I was told the wait would be 8-10 weeks. Sounds like I better be prepared to wait a little longer than that...

They must be doing very well. I've seen the videos of their operation, and they've got it automated to a pretty fine point. I doubt much, if anything, could be done to speed things up beyond where they are now. They'd have to add parallel lines (or another plant, which amounts to the same thing), which is an expensive proposition.

You know who else is doing well due to having an exceptional product? Fractal Audio, with their Axe Fx preamp/processor. The thing is quite popular, and the waiting list is ridiculous. People are buying them just to resell them on eBay for $500 over list because they're so hard to get. There are guys who've been on the list since June who still haven't got their machine.

Got a call from the guitar shop today.  They just got off the phone with the factory, and the ETA is Sept. 1st!  Yay!

September 1st! That's next week! Is the house ready? Have you had your wedding dress cleaned? What about your hair? No roots showing? Don't forget you've got to get your nails done! Also, make sure you have plenty of food/beer/wine/booze in the house - people will be dropping in unannounced for at least a week, probably more.

If I had my nails done I wouldn't be able to play... so screw that!

Begging your pardon; I forgot "getting your nails done" means something different for women than it does for men, or at least for me. When I "do" my nails, it just means making sure they're cut short, then filed round and smooth through two grades of abrasive with a diamond file so they don't touch the fretboard and don't hang up on the strings, or get snagged on anything else.

I just tear mine off with my teeth... :toothy11:

I don't understand how anyone can even put nail polish on.  It feels so gross, like you've been doing some really grimey work and you can't get the gunk off your nails.

nice choice. you wont be sorry. its worth the wait. here's my 614CE. got her three years ago. back when GC could still "hook you up". they let me take home the floor model while this was being built for me (since i didnt dig the amber tint on the back and sides). took a few months but when she got in i was just blown away.

That is one beautiful acoustic nukedoc! I'm doing a little acoustic shopping myself. I'll be paid the end of this summer and I was thinking about starting yet another Warmoth. But I have 2 beautiful Warmoths and one lonely acoustic. I love my acoustic to death, but really want a 000 style or something not a dreadnought shape (like mine now).

That's a tough decision. Very few acoustic guitars are as satisfying as a Taylor, and usually cost really big bucks. But, you could just as easily say the same about a Warmoth electric.

And that's the way men have done it for years. Seems this Metro-sexual trend is catching on. Even to the more senior spectrum of the population.  :icon_jokercolor:

I just don't like my fingers looking like I caught them in the garbage disposal. Makes it hard to play guitar.

That's a niiice looking Taylor.  The only fancy thing I wish I could have gotten was an abalone ring around the sound hole instead of the boring white plastic that comes on the 412.

If biting my nails didn't leave me with ragged edges, I'd be fine with it, but it's not at all conducive to playing the guitar. I don't usually use a pick, though, so my left hand finger nails are long enough to act as picks while my right hand fingernails are cut as closely as possible. If I were to buy a Taylor, I wouldn't pick it up without first ensuring my nails were suitably short!

I was being sarcastic...I use clippers like any other civilized person...
