Here is a little something for you guys. I just finished this guy up the other day. I am not sure why I didn't start a build thread here, but I can litter this thread with some build pics if you would like.

I technically still have to cut some real nut slots and wire it up, but I will be doing that over the summer when I have some disposable income to get some real files.

Enjoy!

Some quick specs:

- 2 pc. Mahogany body, Mahogany/Bolivian RW neck
- 25.5" scale length, 24 frets, no markers, side dots, super fat profile (read I was too scared to take too much off on my first profiling)
- StewMac golden age humbuckers, not really wired up, but two controls and a 3 way switch
- Generic top mount bridge (same as tonemaster build) Gotoh schaller style tuners.

Oh, and please don't look at the pickup ring screws....such a noob/stupidly headstrong moment on my part...quite humbling...

Wow. That is nice, Nice, NICE!

What are your plans for a finish?

Also, what's up with the control cavity routings? Looks like you have an opening for a battery box, but there's no mention of anything that would need one.

It is finished, with tung oil. The hallway I took the pictures in really washed the color out.

That extra cavity is for the jack. It's how Ibanez does things. It would probably just be easier to do a big cavity like warmoth, but I had templates made for those two cavities already  :laughing7:

So you don't feel too bad . . . i'll show my ignorance

What's wrong with the pickup rings?

BTW nice guitar. The body looks great with the natural finish.

If you notice the rings are missing a couple of screws. My guess is he tried to screw them in with not pilot holes and broke off the heads...ask me how I know. I was lucky and only broke one...I didn't want to mess with it so I just super glued the broken head in place so you can't tell.

If that's the case . . . ouch! I've never done that on a guitar, but I have on other projects. When you said super glue I thought you were going to said you "just super glued" I was almost expecting to read 'the broken ring' before I read the rest of the sentence.

This is pretty much it...I have those drill bits from Stew-mac with the plastic depth guides. I matched up the size, and drilled for the screws. The first one went in fine, but the second one broke. Damn it, so I went up a size and did it over again. Got 3 more in, broke another. At this point I was just pissed. So I just kept going and broke the last two :sad1:.

I have learned through guitar building that when shit goes wrong to just get up and walk away, but I was so close to the end...

What had happened, was that the bit was being pushed into the chuck because the bit was so small, making it so every time I drilled a hole, it was shallower. Oh well, I will just be grinding the screws off the heads and gluing them in place like was mentioned  :laughing7:
