well, this is the first guitar I've ever finished myself, I used a couple of different waterbased dyes, (grey, 2 different brands of black, and some vintage amber) I just kept dyeing the flamed maple, then sanding back, to bring out the flame, and it seems to have worked really well! when I was satisfied with the dye, I did a thin-skin satin nitro finish, one heavy coat to start, then 3 more light coats to finish her, and that's it! It really is the best sounding/playing guitar I have ever had, (I've had gibson SG's, Les Pauls, a PRS Mira, schecters, an ibanez jem, etc...) this VIP just has sustain for days! It resonates almost as loudly as a semi-hollowbody, even though it's solid! Actually, this is my only guitar at the moment, I sold my les-paul and SG to a student and friend of mine before I started this build, I kind of just wanted to start from scratch. Anyway, thanks to everyone for the kind sentiments, I love all of you guys' guitars as well! Keep rockin'!
P.S.
I'm saving up to do another warmoth build very soon, I'll keep you all in suspense about what type though! Haha! :headbang:
