I forgot to order neck mounting screws.

Surely there's a hardware store nearby. Bring the neck and body in and find the appropriate length, stainless steel screws. Just make sure they go into the neck but not through the fingerboard!

I must add that a tortoise p/g on Daphne Blue has never been my favorite combination... until now! That neck really pulls it all together. Great choices! That's going to be one sweet li'l JB.

I'm so glad I went with the abalone dots.  It's hard to see in the pictures, but they really pick up the blue perfectly.

I'll get some screws from Ace Hardware tomorrow.  Bummer though, I wanted to get that neck on there tonight.

Awesome! :icon_thumright:

Is that standard grade Pau Ferro? Your fretboard looks very similar to the one on my Padouk neck, and I had to pay $65 extra for mine.:dontknow:

Don't bother with the lemon oil, it probably won't take any. But you could certainly oil up the Bubinga.

I didn't ask for anything fancy, I just ordered it with those two woods and this is what I got.  :icon_biggrin:

Very,very nice!!!
What scale Warhead is it  30"or 32"?

Like those Abalone dots to..looks great  :guitaristgif:

Very attractive pairing - I'm surprised/impressed the Pau Ferro matches the Bubinga so closely.  Congrats on really pegging the vibe you were after!

No kidding, I cannot believe how close the two colors are.  I thought the pau ferro would be a lot darker and less red.

30" scale on this baby.  It fits in a regular guitar case!

Woogalish! The pau ferro will darken from finger sweat, my oldest (2004 Mustang) is almost black in places. The screw size you want is #8 X 1 3/4", by the way. Do you have a stage name yet?

My stage name is Actual Musician Spice.  :icon_jokercolor:

I went and bought some screws from my tech guy because they didn't have any at the hardware store that were the right size.  Neck is now attached!

Alright fellas, let's goooooooooo!!!    :headbang:

It looks a little washed out in the pics because of the crappy fluorescent lights in my house, but it is a really nice piece of pau ferro on this thing.  I'm gonna put a little lemon oil on it to really bring it out.  :toothy10:

It's, it's the ballroom blitz!

Very nice.

Amazing how the Bubinga matches the color of Pau Ferro...

Yeah! Um, ... which is the Bubinga and which is the Pao Ferro?  :dontknow:

I have both a Bubinga and a Pau Ferro neck here, both with Jet Black Ebony 'boards and SS frets, and I have to look at them close to tell them apart. The only real differentiating point is the Pau Ferro is more dense and fine-grained.

So I suppose Warmoth has very similar looking Bubinga and Pau Ferro then?
There can be quite a difference between the two woods, depending on the piece. Bubinga is usually brown, but some of the figured Pomelle and Waterfall varieties are orange/red. Pau Ferro can be light, but it can also be dark, almost like a Rosewood.

At least in those batches. But, it is as you say - they can vary quite a bit. I'm sure that like the Jazz Bass neck we're talking about, my two necks were a coincidence. But, I've seen a number of Bubinga fingerboards on Rickenbackers that didn't look anything like what I have here. Maybe it has to do with where it comes from.

I read somewhere that if two trees are of the same basic family, if they're growing on the same slope in the same soil with the same rainfall, sunlight etc, they'll grow up to be far more alike than two trees of the exact same species that are grown in different places. There are a few dozen kinds of tree in the mahogany family, and "rosewood" is often used to describe other types.
