So, after way too long, the wiring is done.

Here's the main diagrams.  The S3, cut out switch was omitted for the time being.

Signal goes from the Pups, to the Mode selector rotary switch,

to the pickup selector,

to the tone/volume section,

and out into the world.

I made a harness board of sorts, to allow me to be sure the components would fit into the the control rout,
and that the wiring followed the available pathways.

When completed, it easily transfers to the pick guard.

And, of course, the body gets a full shielding too.

That's among the cleanest of JM style wiring jobs I've seen from a non-professional installer.
Fine work indeed!

I'm not seeing a ground wire coming from the bridge area into the control cavity though.

How do you have that worked out?

Neatly and beautifully done! Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

Keep up the good work.  :icon_thumright:

Really clean wiring is one of those things that just reallllly impresses me. Excellent job :icon_thumright:

This thing is going to be a SUPER axe. Let us know how you dig the prails, I was really itching to try them for a while a few years ago.

Looks like you have some extensive experience at that sort of thing. Everything's nicely dressed and properly routed. I love a nice, clean wiring job. At least, until you wanna change something  :laughing7:

Gentlemen, thanks for all the kind words. To answer a few points...

Now THAT wiring is super pretty! Super confusing though.
The tone circuit is set up so it has pretty standard pot and cap value ranges that can be selected depending upon which coil set up is being used. Humbucker, 500K pot with a 15uf cap, when the push-pulls are down, and Single Coil, 250K pot with a 33uf cap, when they're up. The 500k fixed resistor in parallel with the 500k pot does change the curve of the pot in 250k mode, but not to any real detriment. The rotary switch just mimics SD's standard 4 mode wiring, usually done with two push-pulls.

Well, not professional, but certainly not unfamiliar territory either. In my younger days I worked in military electronics, for a civilian contractor, for 16 years. I used the same techniques, except I ran out of lacing tape. Used waxed dental tape instead, worked like a charm!

As for the bridge ground, I ran a wire from a lug inside the body to the underside of the tail piece. Similar to grounding the claw on a Strat, but more like securing the ground wire directly to the block.

Tell me about it! Can't tell you how many beautifully wired harnesses I saw ripped open because some engineer didn't QUITE remember everything he needed it to do! That's why I had a sign over my desk which read: IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORD, NO PROJECT HAS EVER BEEN COMPLETED ON TIME, UNDER BUDGET, AND PASSED BURN-IN THE FIRST TIME THROUGH. YOURS WILL NOT BE THE FIRST!  :icon_jokercolor:

This is great...

IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORD, NO PROJECT HAS EVER BEEN COMPLETED ON TIME, UNDER BUDGET, AND PASSED BURN-IN THE FIRST TIME THROUGH. YOURS WILL NOT BE THE FIRST!  :icon_jokercolor:

And amazing in the history of the world how many projects think they will somehow be different. Or how many projects know they wont achieve that distinction but some hotshot exec has mandated to break the land speed record on a navy issue electric toothbrush  :occasion14:

Yeah, that sign didn't get me a lotta friends in project management, but everyone who actually WORKED on the project knew it was true. If the guys who worked for me weren't as great as they were, I'm pretty sure some PM would have shoved that sign firmly up my arse!  :(

I've met some great PMs over the years, but the percentage unfortunately was a little small. Some of them would have loved that quote.
