I've been thinking

And me thinking can be a dangerous thing but I can't help myself.  I have finished 4 La Cabronita’s now (none for myself) and ever since I heard the first one I was sold on the sound they have.  The last one was a single pickup with the PowerTron and it was the best sounding of the bunch.  I really love Teles but prefer the feel of a Strat so with the help of my favorite computer builder Max I had it laid out.  Now if I can get caught up on all the other projects this may be in my future. Shoreline Gold, Matching Headstock, 1/4 Sawn Maple, with Brazilian Board, Clay dots, Bone Nut, Rutters Tel Bridge, Pearl Tuners, TV Jones PowerTron. We both agree a single ply parchment pickguard will look better but this is the idea.

Looks like a good plan :icon_thumright:, Makes me wonder how one of them in purple flake would look  :toothy10:

I like it. Although, I wouldn't use that bridge. That's kukka. No sense building such a beauty if it won't intonate properly.

go with the strat bridge flatmount
rear route it so you can use a smallish style pickguard such as the Cab does
should look killer and look like part of the Cab family

Tonar my man, I'm not going to second guess you. Your cast off second hand strat body is the basis for my #1 guitar of all time. Go for it, follow your vision and stay true to it.  :party07: :party07: :party07:

If that's one of those Callaham compensated bridges you won't have intonation problems. I think it's a great idea. Have you tried mocking it up with a tele neck? I think that would look killer.

Have you tried mocking it up with a tele neck?
Actually I have considered doing it with a Tele neck but I have also thought about doing it with a bound CBS strat neck ala Ry Cooder. What do you say Max do you think you should try mocking up those versions? If I did the CBS headstock it would not be finished.

Tfarny I’m glad your still enjoying that Strat it really was a great piece of wood and a beautiful sunburst.

Cool build Tonar, have you considered using the Cabronita pickguard on the strat?  Awful lot of pickguard otherwise...

have you seen my strat la cab mockups? I really like my pickguard if I may be so bold  :icon_thumright:

What about something like this but in the colours, pickup config and hardware you want?

I'm not normally toproutaphobic, but no middle, no neck pickup on white pickguard is kinda start and jumps out at you.  Maybe get it rear routed and do the carbonita style 'axe' half pickguard yourself?

We also looked at it without a guard. The only problem with this is I would destroy the lacquer finish in no time with pick scratches.

Looks awfully naked w/o any pickguard at all. You might enhance that, though, by using a clear 'guard and going naked on the fretboard as well. See what a jet-black ebony 'board with no position markers would look like. Be a real study in minimalism that would play/sound like a dream.

Not exactly "Shoreline Gold", but you get the idea.

B3, , that is the pick guard I imagined, I did not know someone had already mocked it up, it looks great and brings the strat into the Cab family
