Steve Vai had that done for Evo and Flo.

Yeah - he put on other necks with TT on them. He changed it back thou ...

Well, he's been playing for a really long time and the more you play the more you learn to acommodate for these flaws in the guitar by bending strings in certain chords etc. So it's possible that he's so used to doing that that it just feels wierd with a TT neck.
Would be interesting with a clear answer though.

This might just be my paranoia, but I was checking out Warmoth's site as I do every day and noticed the LT518 Flame Koa top is now not available anymore, so I checked my order to see if they had picked it up and charged me for the balance. Now, they haven't, does this possibly mean someone placed an order on that top before me and that now it's unavailable to me, or could it be so that they're just lazy?

I ordered the pieces last friday and I don't really know how fast they are at picking up orders since this is the first time I'm ordering from them.

It's possible sometimes they have more than one piece from that same chunk of wood. But usually if they don't, as soon as you order something and it's a unique choice piece, they pull it out of inventory right then.

Well, the thing with Flame Koa is that it isn't a selectable Unique Choice, you have to specify what you want in the Optional Note section. Now, they maybe read through those more or less as soon as they come in and tag the pieces of wood and maybe I'm just being a paranoid ADHD kid here but I do get a bit worried that my koa piece is snatched by someone else. :p

That sort of thing doesn't show up on the online order for some reason. I have a neck in process that has a curly Koa headstock veneer over a Koa neck, and it doesn't show up on the order. I also special ordered all-black ebony (no dye/no grain streaks) for the fingerboard, and it doesn't show up, either. But, I got charged for it, so I'm sure it'll show up properly done. The only distressing thing about that anomaly in the ordering process is I don't have any paperwork that says I should get those features, so if the thing shows up wrong, I won't really have any recourse for making it good other than relying on their goodwill.

The reason I'm slightly worried is also because I got this answer when I sent a mail to them;

"Hello,
That will be charged as the order is picked (by your description)

Thanks for writing,"

So, they pick the order and when they pick the order they charge me for the extra fees. To be able to know what specific wood I chose they need to pick up the order. But I haven't been charged with any extra fees. So either someone is sloppy or someone else got really good taste in woods and placed the order before I did.

I understand your anxiety. I would suggest you just call them. The number's on the top of their web page(s). They're a great bunch of people, very friendly, nothing spooky or heartless like calling the government or Microsoft or something. It's not that big a place - the salesman can walk to where your part(s) are in the process in a minute. They'll either put your mind at ease, or if there's a problem, take care of it so you can put your mind at ease.

ya know... i actually might get that. i have been noticing lately that at home when i play my guitar seems a little off to my ears on different parts of the neck. i never noticed before, i guess my ears are just waking up more and more.

Alright, I called Warmoth just to be sure and everything seems to be fine. Due to my very specific order they had some questions and now I'm just waiting for a total and shipping quote. Should've gotten the email about that today but alas, I did not. I'll have to wait until monday for that.

Once that's done, it's just to sit back and wait for the goodies to arrive! Crossing my fingers that it takes 6-7 weeks (yeah, right, like that would happen  :sad1:) because for the following two weeks after that I'll be on vacation. I do have a "quicker" order though since it's just a simple clear coat and the neck is ordered without a nut install, no dots and no side dots and no frets, so that'll probably speed it up slightly.

Guess we'll have to wait until monday and see then.  :blob7:
