Is it possible for a plywood guitar to sound good?

The real question is, "what kind of finish was used on the paper mache body?" Thick unbreathable urethane/acrylic or nitrocellulose lacquer?
Elmer's Glue mixed with Pillsbury flour. The Pillsbury flour is the real secret to getting good tone.  :icon_thumright:

FWIW, my first guitar was a candy apple red Kramer Striker 600ST. (I still have it.)  When grunge hit, you could score nice Kramers and Charvels for ridiculous prices.  My all-time record was a Baretta II with case for $100. Anyway, I stripped the original Floyd Rose, Seymour Duncan pickups, and electronics from a Kramer Pacer and popped them in my Striker. It really does sound good…for about 5 seconds. There’s just no sustain.

Seems to have a differing opinion...........

Don't wish to rehash this whole thing again. I'm 67 years old, I've been involved in guitar construction and repair since I was 15. Every so many years folks resurrect this tired argument.
Any material you use for a solidbody can sound good, it mainly depends on what you consider to be "good". I only know that you can take the electronics out of a 59 Les Paul and put them into a Japanese lawsuit copy and it's not going to sound the same to the person that's been playing that LP for awhile. I know, I've tried it it the past..... :headbang:

Aren't ES 330s, Casinos and most other thinline hollowbody and semi-hollowbody guitars made from molded plywood?
