i was playing a lot of stuff in C# standard tuning for a long while. I was playing 11-54's on a 25 1/2" scale. I would've liked to get slightly more tension, but heavier strings weren't sounding good for me at the time. I'd probably have much better results now with a different amp and a lot more knowledge of guitars and all. Since then I've had all nickel 12-54's on a bright sounding electric and it was very well balanced tonally.
i've thought about going to that w/ a warmoth baritone conversion neck, but I think it's way overcompensating. I think for that tuning with comfortable string gauges, you'd want something like 26 1/2". 28's designed for tuning down to B or Bb standard.
i'd say that you should try and get as much out of changing strings and maybe pickups before going to a conversion neck. if you get the conversion neck and it's not the answer, you're out more money and trouble than just trying to change small components. If you do get one though, i'd love to know what the results are like. let us know for sure
