Hey, gang.

This is what the guitar is capable of on the lighter side of the fence.  Amazing wood = amazing tone.  Light mahogany body with 1-piece maple neck + BK pickups.  Yum!

Nice. I'd like to see an extended version where you play more at the end. You've set up a nice solo section with great intro and melodic work; time to let it off the leash! Really nice mixdown too. Well done all the way around.

Thanks for the feedback haha.

My rule was always "Never fade out on the solo!".  Can't stand it when songs do that.  I didn't realize I broke it until I finished the song haha.  It was a really tough decision to not unleash for another 2 measures or so, but I wanted a more restrained song.  Not easy to do!

That's very nice indeed. Great composition and playing! Nice guitar tone too.

Can you give us a bit of detail information about the recording chain from the guitar to the hard disk?

Also, did you play the other instruments and are these real or virtual?

Thank you - I'm still an amateur, so feedback (even critical) is most welcomed.  I record/mix/master in an untreated room, so it's very challenging.

Guitar: Lightweight mahogany + one-piece maple neck (vintage modern)
Computing/Hardware: 2011 Mac Pro + Apogee Duet 2 + KRK Rockit 6 reference monitors
Amps: Top Hat Ambassador 4x6v6, self-built blackface/plexi hybrid 2x6l6 + 1x12 open back cab with some warehouse speaker in it + Bluebird Condenser mic
SW: Various plugins for drums, keys - mostly stock Logic samples..Amplitube 3 for heavier tracks

Oh, forgot to answer your other question - I play guitar, bass, keys, and strings.  The drums, keys, and strings here are synthesized.

You have some good stuff on Soundcloud. Which BK pups are they ?

Thank you, my strat wielding brother.

I swear - absolutely swear by the Abraxas bridge humbucker and the 63 veneer single coils.  I have these in my G&L Legacy and they are great in that one, as well.  The humbucker splits beautifully as an added bonus.  I bought them about 2 years ago and I haven't even been curious about other pickups since.  The variety of stuff on my soundcloud is testimony to the wide range of styles they can cover.

Your welcome, I've never tried BKs, but keep toying with the idea.  You certainly are covering a lot of ground on your recordings.

Good stuff is worth saving for, man.  I have wasted so much money on poop and hype!  You can always get your money back if you don't like them.  I have found that they can really let the guitar and amp do their business.

I've had their Apache Singlecoils, as well (very tasty), along with one of their higher output humbuckers (Holydiver) and was pleased, though it didn't play nice split with the 63 Veneer (lost the sparkle).  That one is now residing in my warmoth strat and will stay there for good!

I agree it's worth getting what you want. The BKs in the UK aren't too bad a deal possibly a little more than some pickups. But certainly less than others I have had to import.

Very nice stuff, Frank.  I put on my headphones and just let your stuff play for about a half hour today while I was working on other things, and I gotta tell you, you do good work.  Thanks for sharing.

In re: pickups - I can't afford to patronize the Bare Knuckle dudes if I want to keep on building guitars and also eating food, but I did get a great deal on some Eric Johnson Strat pups from the Stratosphere, cannibalized the way they do, along with the factory pickguard (see here).  They are so very very sweet.  Tremendously responsive to picking dynamics.  Recommended highly, if you decide to do some 'sperimentation.

Thank you for the kind words (really appreciated) - and advice on the EJ pups.  I read great reviews from several sources.  Always down to 'esperiment.  :laughing7:
