Installing a strat hardtail bridge

Two questions on this:

1. Should I do a super light counter sing in the bridge holes to protect the finish before I screw in the bridge?  I noticed that Jason did this in his strat build, but I'm wondering if that's only needed for tremolos.

2. For screw lube, what kind of soap should I use?  Liquid or bar?  Seems like a stupid question, I know.

thanks for the help.

Hmm - 1) no, and 2) none, would be my answers.
Long version - Maybe I don't understand - are you trying to protect the finish UNDER the bridge? From what?
Some people use wax, not soap, on the neck bolts, and wax other screws as needed when the threading is really tight. I have waxed my bridge bolts before, and also not waxed them. Don't notice any difference whatsoever. Sounds like you are being really careful - that's good.

+1 to tfarny  :icon_thumright:  This process seems like a whole bunch of overkill.
Yes, you should be careful.  However, you are creating a lot of unnecessary work for yourself.
The screw holes discussed here are completely covered by the bridge.  Chances of the finish chipping between the surface and the bridge due to a screw are slight to none.
I have also only used wax to lubricate the screws.  Just rub the threads on a candle before insertion.
However, this is normally only a concern with small screws that are likely to break [i.e. tuning machine screws]
Really not a problem with large screws like those used for the bridge.
Again, better safe than sorry, so don't ever hesitate to ask such questions.
Good luck on your build and ya better be postin' pics of your progress
