Inlay dot choice

Yea ... over thinking it ... I know.  It's early and ......

I already know I like the look of dotless ebony. I was going to go cream on ebony on the next one or dotless.

I was encouraged to hear Black Dog Say:
"I was a bit nervous the first time I ordered a no dot board.  I thought that I would be lost.
However, it is really amazing how quickly your brain learns to focus in on the side dots.
No problem at all and the board looks clean..."

Anyway ... it reminds me of my violin teacher friend who puts little star stickers on the necks of her 4 year old students violins when they first start playing.

She's razzed me more than a few times because I have dots and frets.

I've got a cream dot on jet black ebony over curly koa neck with gold frets here that I like pretty well.

Here's my MOP w/ Ebony (Mahogany neck)
Mostly looks kinda silver. There's a little bit on it that's shiny depending on the angle.  I know each piece is unique, so there's that too.

Yep. More than pretty well for sure. Very classy.

black on ebony!

I've been flirting with that idea for a while. I'd love to see one first.

Here's a pic of mine.  I can see them fine when I play it, but you stand a few feet away, and it looks like there are no inlays

Crash ... WOW! That's a great body also.

What body wood and finish?

I didn't see the black dots until you said they were there.
They'd even be more hidden on jet black.

I love Mother of Pearl, especially on ebony. While not as iridescent as abalone - when they catch the light right,
its beautiful...

Solid Koa with a gloss finish from the Warmoth showcase.  I wanted the inlay dots to be barely noticeable.  I love the brown streaks in ebony.  It kind of matches the body.

Count me in as a lover of the "Nekkid" board. I had not seen an ebony or rosewood board on an electric without markers before looking at this thread, and I like it! I would have said MOP on Black would be really classy, but I have to say naked is even better!

I got my Tele with a Warmoth Maple Birdseye neck in a trade  and was worried at first about the lack of fretboard dots. No need to worry, the side dots do a fine job and I would not want to mess up this nice birdseye with distracting dots!    :headbang:
