(...or at least Inferno is the tentative 90% working title)  :headbang1:

It feels so good in my hands already. Sadly, it'll be going right back out the door tomorrow to Kuro Uma for paint! It's a shame to paint over such a beautiful top, but since it's a hollow body I didn't have a choice, and I'm psyched to hear the basswood body / maple top sound combination. It is SO light, but that's a big thing for me.

The neck is very un-tele-esque but REALLY comfortable. I went with the 720 mod and it's a wizard neck. Always loved the wizard feel for the faster stuff.

When you all get time later, please check the wiring board as I'll have a thread coming up soon asking humbly for your suggestions since it's something I know ZERO about.  :glasses10:

Is that a new Warmoth control layout option?  :icon_scratch:

DBU - I believe that's how the configuration looks when you select rear route for a tele body as opposed to front. I could be way off, though, I'm as novice as you get when it comes to wiring!

:tard:

Looking good.

Better picture of the front of the neck please. What little I saw looked amazing.

That's Thinline controls on a rear route. Annoyingly, Warmoth don't offer that on a non-Thinline body (nor top route Thinline on a solid body )

Anyhoo, very nice. Semi-hollow basswood will be interesting. I'm seeing more and more private builders and smaller companies using basswood for non-shreddy guitars and the light weight and simple grain has me interested.

That has to be THE nicest piece of maple I've seen on top of a Tele!

Sadly fdesalvo (and to answer MSP's question...) it's all being painted over. Since it's hollow I had no choice but to pick a laminate top and I really wanted maple on top of basswood.
The paintjob is going to strongly resemble this idea below -

This whole time I'd been planning on black hardware, and it's about time to order....but I'm strongly leaning back over to the idea of chrome. I was going to go with Lollar Pickups anyway....and I'm thinking these would obviously SOUND, but also look stellar in the bridge with the rest chrome.

What do you guys think, black or chrome for hardware??

Talked to DBU a bit before going into all of this. His afterburner is legendarily awesome! For me though...I'm going with a large metal flake for the old school hot rod flame look. The wood will be all but lost. When it took me to the laminate top option i had the choice between flame and quilt. I freaking LOVE a good quilted top....so i guess I figured I'd feel less guilty painting over a flame maple top.

I have a music man EVH from years back and ended up with a REALLY sh1tty quilt. Would have been heartbroken to have received a great one just to paint over it.  :tard:

Chrome hardware. Covering up that flame is acceptable, but it better be Nitro. That way the flame will at least re-appear 5 days a year or so down the road.

They admit to not offering plain maple, but surely they have some plainer pieces.  I have a Tele with a dyed maple top and I've seen a solid finish they've done over quilt.  In both cases, catching the glare just right, you can see the unevenness.  Someone recommended if wanting a plain maple top for looks, alder can pass if not doing a dyed finish.  In your case I'm guessing the basswood/maple combo was for sound and not looks.  Since you ordered online, there were only 2 choices of maple, but maybe a phone call or email for a plainer piece that would knowingly be finished in an opaque color could have saved a few bucks, or at the very least prevented our gasps at covering that top up.

Aside from covering up the nice flame. My other concern has been that "uneveness" showing through. The design could also be dyed into the maple, and that thought has popped in my head. But I know what were going for here. And try as I might I know I can't dye the metal flake. I would have preferred to be painting on some plain alder top. The flamed maple is going to take more prep to make sure it's a flat surface. I think it's going to be a stellar Tele in the end.
