I am getting prepared for my next build. It will be a Tele with Flame Maple front and back and Mahogany in the middle. I would like to dye the maple (bright color burst) using the black dye and sandback method, but want the Mahogany to be a natural color.
Is there any trick to get a perfect line without the dye bleeding through the maple to the mahogany, or will the glue naturally prevent that. In addition to fine-line tape, to protect the sides of the mahogany (as well as fill it) I was thinking of using an epoxy grain filler before dyeing the top.
Any suggestions? (yes, I'm going to practice before messing up $300 in lumber :icon_thumright
