I think this is my first post here. I'm building my 4th Warmoth guitar now and figured it might be a good time to introduce myself. I've built 4 Teles so far and thought it was about time for something different so I'm building my dream Super Strat. I've been planning it for years so I'm excited. I already got the body and the neck should be along soon. Swamp ash body with figured swamp ash top, flame maple neck with dark rosewood fret board, single HB with a Floyd.

So I was just looking for tips on staining ash and came across my body on this site.  https://www.picbear.cc/u/warmothguitar What is this site?

It looks like it's been stained, but it's not. How did they do that? That's the base I want to start with, I want to get the grain to pop just like that and then go from there so I will be looking for advice on how to go about doing that. So far all I've done are straight tru-oil finishes except the last one I added some color to the oil.

Anyway, here's the raw body as I received it yesterday..

That's a beautiful body you've acquired.  Nice job!

If you wipe that top with some naphtha it will pop like that, just to give you an idea what you're in for.  And once you apply a clear finish, it will stay that way.

The Picbear site appears to be a China-based version of Instagram; it may be actually pirating stuff that gets posted on Instagram.  I'm sure Aaron (Double A) can tell us if it's legit or a scrape of some kind.  Here it is on the verified Warmoth instagram page:

Swank find on your part, good taste. And welcome to the forum. I have learned a lot over the past five years here. (OK, this and cat videos on YouTube.... :))

very cool body  :headbang:

that site is in Japanese, translation:

I think it showing up the most popular photo in some groups or theme on the guide page in Japanese markets.

Welcome to the forum. That's certainly made from a particularly beautiful piece of wood. Nice grab.

That is a gorgeous piece of Ash! It's true, you rarely see that wood with figuring like that. Mother Nature works in mysterious ways. I have a customer's neck here right now that has curly Mahogany neck meat. Who knew such a thing existed? Those guys at Warmoth seem to have a gift for finding highly attractive woods.

Thanks guys! I couldn't believe I was able to get that top, there is another piece that was almost as nice, it looks like it was cut from the next layer of the same board, it has almost the same grain pattern but not as figured. It's still there I just checked.

amazing body!  10+.

I look forward to seeing it finished.  I would try to keep as much as the goodness showing...maybe a slight burst on the edges.    I am gassing hard!
