I hate phillips head screws

I hate Phillips head screws. I think they should be banned from guitars. Someone who is screw knowledgeably should start selling hex headed replacement screw packs so all the Phillips
headed screws on different guitars can easily be replaced.

Hex headed screws are easier to adjust precisely, the "screwdriver" doesn't slip and mar the finish of the guitar and worst of all the head doesn't get damaged so that an old screw can't be removed! Even if you don't want to go the full "add screw inserts" so you can't strip the wood because you remove and replace certain parts, hex headed screws are just smarter and easier.

I was adjusting a guitars intonation and had to find a long neck screw driver to adjust the screws and of course when the saddle needed to be moved, after loosening the strings, it still was difficult with the Phillips headed screwdriver. while it would have been so easy and precise with a hex headed screw. So someone please start selling hex headed replacement screw sets for every guitar and then outlaw the use of Phillips headed screws on guitar production FOREVER. Thanks

The best screws have been Robertson for the better part of, oh, 70 years.  I use them all the time.

The only difficulties I have had with phillips head screws is when I try to turn one with a cheap screwdriver that doesn't fit the head. A properly fitting screwdriver won't slip out of the head.

This! If your screwdriver is slipping and/or stripping the head out you are using the wrong one! The correct one will grab the profile like, well, like it was made for it...

If the string is loose and it's still hard to adjust the intonation, something is wrong besides the type of screw head.

Yo that first post went from 0 to 420 quick. like watching the first five minutes of John Wick then skipping to the final fight scene where keanu stops bullets with his mind and jumps into Smith Agent's body

Screw head type is a weird hill to die on. i mean, i love your passion and think it's great that you don't let logic or reason stifle it.

Once Johnny mnemonic and the Matrix were on at the same time, I was flipping back forth  ...  Neo  downloaded an unbelievable 80 gigabytes into his brain! and then met a dolphin.

I could not agree more!  Just use a better screw...  There are loads these days better than phillips.

I don't want to mandate a universal change but to me hex headed screws are THE right answer. You can move them more precisely. You have a secure grip on the screw by the Allen wrench fit into  the screw head AND I can carry a whole screwdriver (hex wrench) set in a small device in my pocket or in my gig bag so I am never searching for the right screw driver. Oh and I've never heard of a hex screw being rounded so that it can't be removed. I'm just saying hex headed screws seems to be the right answer. When they open my local hardware store I may see if I can convert my guitar to hex headed.

ok, bruh. you have been heard. i'll be sure to pass this down this edict to my children. and to my children's children and their parents.

I would still take flat blade over philips.

Maybe I keep getting cheap screws but GAHD, they wear down faster than a balsawood pick playing speed metal.

I'm with OP, it's time the industry standard got an upgrade...
