I had a guitar building dream

I dreamt I built a Jaguar last night.  It was like a metallic tobacco burst with a tortoise pickguard and a vintage tint maple neck.  The funny thing is that I want to build a Jaguar some day, and what I have in mind is nothing like that.  It was pretty in my dream, but I would never choose any of those options.  Weird.

me too but mine was fiesta red, with matching headstock :icon_thumright:

I had a dream once of a Warwick Thumb with a sandblasted swamp ash body that had "qui tacet consentit" on it. I remembered it when I woke up so I wrote it down, and translated it a few weeks later via Google. Latin, roughly meaning, "Silence implies consent." I don't speak Latin and I don't remember ever hearing or reading it anywhere.

Then I got a price quote from Warwick and decided it was just a dream, after all.

ok this is weird but has nothing to do with guitars.

i had a dream, well i hope it was a dream, that i was sleeping but a noise resembling wind or compressed air being used was keeping me from getting to sleep, eventually instead of trying to sleep i decided to try to wake up and see what it was but i had the feeling i was being held down, like a big guy pushing down on my upper back so that i couldn't get up. i'm a religous guy or was at one point in my life and i was a bit scared at this point so i tried to wisper the word "jesus" and was drown out buy the noise that seemed to suddenly get louder, i tried again and louder again at this point my heart was racing about 200 bpm and i was still struggling to get up, i started reciting a prayer to saint micheal in my head as i tried a third time to say jesus and i heard a loud snarling in my ear like a large angry pitbull had attacked me there was even the sensation of hot breath on the back of my neck and as i got the words out it all disappeared. i woke up soaked in sweat and my heart was pounding. this is the second time something like that happened to me but last time it was more strange than frightening. and i have been having unusually, almost impossibly bad luck ever since.

i haven't been to church in a while but if this happens again and i don't have heart attack and die in my sleep then you will definately see me there.

Hannaugh, if you can, go with the dream and build it.

There may be some unknown reason for it's configuration.

freaky!
I have actually heard from more people about the waking up and being held down before.. all had trouble breathing and felt they were being pushed on their chest or back..

I had a guitar building dream the other night, too.  When I woke up, there were several unfinished projects in view.  Maybe there's a reason I had a guitar building dream.

Sleep Paralysis maybe??

again, I heard about this quite a lot, and some of them saw a black figure sitting at the end of their bed... creepy either way.

Dan, it sounds like you had a night terror or even sleep paralysis.  My best friend had sleep paralysis problems for years and never told anyone because she thought people would think she was crazy and they would have her institutionalized.  She used to see little gnome/goblin-like creatures come into her room and do weird things.  Then one day I mentioned that I had been reading about sleep paralysis and she suddenly realized that that's what she was experiencing.  Basically your eyes open so you think you're awake, but you can't move because you're acutally still in REM.  The part of your brain that controls fight or flight goes crazy and releases a ton of adrenaline, so you will see frightening things.  Religious people often report seeing demons or the devil, and non-religious people often report aliens trying to carry them off.  It is also very common to feel like something is pushing down on you, and it's very common to hear very loud noises when these episodes occur.  I read about a guy who always thought a giant hand was trying to crush him.

And about the Jaguar... I don't know.  I liked it in the dream, but then I had a moment where I realized that my original idea for a Jag build was totally different and I thought to myself "Now I have to wait to build the one I wanted before."  Plus I'm really not a huge fan of tortoise shell pickguards.

yeah, I just googled sleep paralysis + Demon.... there are some crazy stories there  :o

She used to see little gnome/goblin-like creatures come into her room and do weird things

the ironic part is that the time I heard the most stories about this was when I lived in Ireland... land of goblins and fairies :)
I also remember some in Ireland insisting that even though it is a scary experience, it was caused by angels... :tard:
