Suppose if you like that type of Bling / Inlay / Binding ......  :dontknow: .... go for it.

It does look like something Liberace would play.

I feel naked.  I know! Gimme my fake Les Paul!

Oh, now that's funny!!!

I think the guitar looks great...I like the bling, it borders on being overdone, but not to much for my tastes.

Bling! Is that short for Binding, but of course Binding doesn't have an L in it!    ???  Oh, and by the way, thank for the nice compliment, but I dont't know, I think i would still love to do my Warmoith custom build, but then there is this very nice Guitar, even if it's foreign made it's still nice, regardless!  :occasion14:

I'm not a fan of the wide binding but I do like the sharp lower horn, like they have on the Montag mockup creator. I'd like to see that as an option on Warmoth LPs.

It's not as bad as you think, that is, until you have seen it in Person, can you reall enjoy the beauty of it, and LOVE IT, like I do! You have to see, to believe it!

If it was me and I was in the market for a Les Paul style guitar, I'd be on the Rondo site looking at Agiles. Anything with model numbers in the 3000 and up series will make a new Gibson Les Paul Custom look like a '70s vintage Japanese wannabe, for about 10%-12% of the cost. Very nice instruments, and I've seen/played a number of them and even owned one for a while. The one you're looking at is certainly a PacRim instrument, so you shouldn't mind an Agile's pedigree (South Korea) .

That ESP is a nice looking guitar. I would not compare it to a custom build Warmoth though. There are a LOT of nice production guitars I could get for the ~ $1400.00 I am spending on my Tele build, most of which would probably play just as nice. BUT somewhere, somebody has a  guitar that is IDENTICAL to mine. And there is ALWAYS something about a production guitar that I would rather have done another way (pups, electronics, inlays, etc.). So the Warmoth is an opportunity to get a one off guitar that is totally unique to me, configured EXACTLY thye way I want it down to the last detail, while spending about the same amount of money. And 100% U.S. made (important to me at least). Can't beat that.

Well, the guitar I am looking at IS made in Korea, and the frets are not
sharp like I see in other POS guitars in some (won't be named, for fear of being squaked at, cause I don't care for them, Brands) Guitars!

Thanks, I'll try to keep your points in mind.  :occasion14:

all right, suppose I went ahead with my Custom build, who on this site could put Abalone on the  Body, and does the body need to be unfinished or does it matter? My Idea if I did do a custom would be stay as close to that Ltd as close as possible, white Binding on the side of Body and Neck, and the Abalone on the top of the Body and Fingerboard, though I would don't really know that I want both cause it would be costly. Somebody chime in as to how i could build this same thing, thin body with a carved top and the afore mentioned Binding. I want to  :guitarplayer2: Rock!

You found a guitar that you like for a good price, what else is there to discuss?  :laughing7:

Spending money on abalone seems wasteful. If cost is a factor, build a warmoth that doesn't look "omfg super pretty!!!!!" It might not beat the ESP for looks, but it will kick ass live and in the studio. The money you don't spend on Abalone could go towards things that actually matter, like a decent pair of pickups, a good set of tuners, etc. You'll get a guitar that's exactly what you want for a reasonable price. Yeah, you won't be as flashy as the Liberace guitar you're looking at, but you'll have a neck carve/radius to what you want, high quality woods and a headstock that doesn't look horrible.

I admire you courage. Every time I contemplate a non-Warmoth guitar I start to think that I could change this or that on it and basically ends up with another Warmoth project. I'm like caught in a Warmoth Catch 22

But I don't see nothing wrong in putting your Warmoth on hold. Just don't put it on hold for too long.  :icon_biggrin:

That's a cool guitar. Excellent choice! I think what everyone is missing is the fact that its your opinion your choice your money and your guitar. Sure the binding is cosmetic but if its your thing then what use is a custom guitar to you if it doesn't meet your standards? Why pay for something that isn't what you want just so you can say its custom? Custom doesn't mean better. I hope you enjoy the guitar and don't take anything you read too personal. There is alot of knowledge on this board.

Yes, there is a lot of knowledge on this board, and yes it is my choice, and thanks for the kind words!
The other Guitar i am looking at is not one that is at my local dealer, but if some thought it was less flashy, but looks just as good:

You gotta do what's right by you and don't take some ribbing hard. It's just the way on this board. Lot a guys been hear a long time. (not me i'm still new)

My first buildw was two guitars in parallel. A cheap one for me and really nice one for a friend of mine. What I didn't feel comfortable doing I had Warmoth do, or I practiced on my POS (that term doesn't bother me at all.) and then did on his. Neck inserts would be an example of that.

There is a satisfaction in using/playing something you built yourself. But you can always do a guitar later on. You can be shopping for good deals on used parts, etc. Wait for a used Squier Standard (thats got a full width body) and refinish it, change, learn to wire it, etc. Make if yours. Even if you put GFS parts/pickups you will end up with a great sounding guitar. I love my little 7/8ths strat with GFS Pro 63 single coils. And it's got GFS locker tuners, a GFS trem, etc. I'm not trying to be a GFS fanboy but instead trying to make the point is that you can turn a squier, or a Epi Special II whatever and have a lot of fun without breaking the bank.

That is one pimping guitar, not my cup of tea, but if it does it for you, do it and have fun playing it.
