How to keep nickel humbuckers polished?

I've had a couple of guitars with nickel humbuckers and they enevitably start to look really nasty. I try to be disciplined and wipe them down after every use which definitely helps but is not 100%.

So my question to you guys is what do you do to keep them clean, shiny, and polished?

A really soft rag or good paper towel like wipe-all and a fine jewelry polish..

A soft cloth with rubbing alcohol will clean them very well. It is what I use to clean them up from finger prints and such. If you want to put a little car wax on them this will help keep them clean for quite a while. I use old soft t-shirts to polish up covers.

Rubbing alcohol sounds like a good idea. I think I will try that. Thanks.

I love those! And Fastback Guitars has the "Beardcomber Unshaven" with similar patina. I used to have an epiphone that i took the pickup covers off of, dragged them down pavement, and hit em with a blowtorch... Hehe..

Sell the covers as "natural relics" - buy new ones and pocket the difference. In fact, I smell a business opportunity!

Step one: Remove pickup
Step two: Using soldering gun, remove nickel cover
Step three: Install chrome cover
Step four: Reinstall pickup
