How not to do it

I gotta tell you, the show of unity on this topic is positively heartwarming.  I treasure moments like these.

Bagman

Ya know, if he was contrite and said 'I screwed up this beautiful neck, but if you want to bid what the market will bear and rehabilitate it (with a healthy date with a scraper) then be my guest', it'd be completely different. Instead he's trying to get an ungodly amount of money for it. Stuff like that should definitely be market will bear - even if it's $50.

it is quite heartwarming isn't it :icon_biggrin:

Ok, ok......I had to send him a message. BUT I sent him a message about the matching body telling him how amazing it looks and how much I loved the glossy mirror like finish and painted binding...and where did he have it finished...etc.

Is that mean......I can't wait to hear the reply.  :laughing7: :laughing7:

BRAND NEW MIGHTY MITE STRAT GUITAR REPLACEMENT BODY

-BEAUTIFUL SUNBURST COLOR

- I THEN HAD A CREAM BINDING COLOR HAND PAINTED ON THE BODY

- I THEN HAD OVER 10 COATS OF MINWAX POLYURETHANE CLEARCOAT COATING SPRAYED OVER THE BINDING AND BODY.

Wait, so this dude put 10 coats of Minwax over an already finished body?

What the hell for? :tard:

Hey, the guy just wanted the best boutique axe he could afford.
and with no knowledge, went to Home Despot and bought fast food finishing supplies, poured thinner in them and airbrushed the parts.
He had no support
does not even have a forum to learn from like this
give him a break

Oh screw it, he is a assphat clown for butchering that thing like that. Pass me my bong. One more hit and I think I can spray another 5 coats

Seriously he would have to pay me to take that off his hands. A lot of money

Seeing that neck makes me really fell bad. They put so much Minwax on this thing that its simply going to be unplayable unless you chalk your left hand up like a gymnast. If you forget to, your hand is going to stop where its at once you get at the first hint of palm sweat.

Plus, we know the guys and respect the guys who work hard to build top end guitar components, only to see this sort of thing happen to their hard work. I think I'd know what my uncle felt like when he saw his '69 GTO Judge wrapped around a tree three weeks after he sold it. Sure, you have your check at the end of the day, but you still feel bad when you see it.

WOW, Just read this about his bass...

"-YAMAHA RBX-374 BASS - 4 STRING

-THIS BASS IS LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD, AND HAS LESS THAN AN A HALF HOUR OF USE ON IT, MY FRIEND ACCIDENTALLY SCUFFED IT UP, SO I JUST DECIDED TO GIVE IT A "RELIC" / "BROKEN IN" LOOK BY  HAND SANDING AND RUBBING CERTAIN AREAS.

-IT HAS THAT LOOK OF JAMES HETFIELDS SIGNATURE -  ESP / LTD " BROKEN IN " GUITAR.

-IT HAS A  BOLT ON MAPLE NECK, CONTOURED ERGONOMICALLY SHAPED BODY, HUMBUCKING PICKUPS, ACTIVE ELECTRONICS FOR A ROCKING POWERFUL SOUND. ROSEWOOD FINGERBOARD. GREAT BASS WITH NO ISSUES.

-THESE BASSES SELL NEW FOR $299.00

ASK ALL QUESTIONS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO RETURNS ON THIS ITEM. U.S. BIDDERS ONLY. FREE SHIPPING!"

Hand sanding and rubbing huh? What a cumbubble.

Interesting thing is those drums have never been played.
So, why would a guy have drums unused, a Bass unused and reliced, real bad relicing job too. he sanded circles around the knobs and a few body wear points and a neck wear point.
And a unassembled guitar. no post for the bridge even drilled?
I think we have some guy who wanted to start a band, maxed out his CC buying the stuff. Found out he does a lousy job at finish work, and figured out how much more it will cost to get the rest of what he wants and is trying to bail so he can get his family some presents.
In a way I feel sorry for the guy. looks to be  more than a grand into it and needs a way out, but with the pure amateurish attempts he made he is going to find out the drums may sell, but the others are going be a hard sell, hence the no return policy, he knows he F(*$^& UP.  And figures that Because you cannot really see something on ebay, he can off it with a no return policy.
He has just crossed over to a scammer on ebay, Like so many of the ebay sellers, is trying to off something on a unsuspecting innocent person.
One thing is I guess we all can be happy we found someplace that shares the knowledge of how to do it right. I would be pissed if I had spent that kind of money and eneded up with what he has.
A fool and his money, both him and whoever buys from him.  There should be a way to warn the public about those items.
