I ordered a showcase neck on April 30th. Details were Warmoth Pro Strat, maple/maple, Wizard profile, 10-16".

I specified the following customisations to it:

SS6100 Frets
R4 nut prep w/ mounting holes
Sperzel tuner holes
Satin clear nitro

It arrived here in London UK, today.

It was slated to ship in 5-6 weeks, and in fact it shipped in about 5 days.

I haven't been home yet to actually touch the thing, but my wife has sent me pictures and as far as I can see, everything is perfect. How in god's name did they do it?

Satin nitro must cure up pretty quick. (I've only ever ordered gloss, so I don't know)
It saves quite a bit of time to grab a showcase neck vs a complete custom.

If this is your first Pro neck, read the yellow information sheet that came with it regarding trussrod adjustment (just) before you screw it onto a body.

Don't worry, I'm a "spend three months measuring six times a day, cut once" kinda guy.

I don't have a body yet, that was a custom build and so it's still several months away. Gives me plenty of time to be very careful removing the lacquer from the frets, getting the tuners fitted, and eventually getting the nut on there (I don't have that yet).

Ok, so when I got home, I thought "ah - that's how they've done it so quick - they've forgotten to finish it". But at the same time, I thought, wow, it does feel really nice.

Anyway it did say it was finished on the packing sheet, but I really thought it wasn't. Then I dragged a little piece of metal across one of the frets and sure enough, off came a little piece of finish. Holy crap, they've finished it with such a beautiful and thin satin finish that I genuinely thought there was no finish on it. It's amazing. It still smells like wood, even!

I got the tuners on to see how it looks. "Awesome" is the answer.

That RED dot means it's finished in Clear Satin Nitro :icon_thumright:

If you try and peel back that red dot, should see a difference.

Look here at a showcase item .... http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseNeck.aspx?i=VMT3871&Body=1&Path=Neck

BTW ... that was quick  :o

I imagine the stars were just aligned.  It came out of showcase storage and immediately fell on the cart taking a batch of necks to the clear satin booth.  FWIW, a lot of guys let stuff cure longer than this order even took.

The clear satin finish is a catalyzed nitro lacquer.  It only needs to cure a day or two and is ready to go.

Congrats! Warmoth's satin nitro finish really is awesome. Mine on my Telecaster Deluxe has started to lightly yellow where I play on it a lot. Very cool.

Oh, and I'm awarding you (and Warmoth) the unofficial record for Fastest Custom Order and Fastest Custom Order Delivered Overseas.  :icon_biggrin:
