How about an Unofficial Purple Tribute registry?

Hi all,

I was one of the fortunate few who was able to score one of the seven Purple Tribute bodies.  Since these are so unique, and it would be a shame for them to just get sent off to destinations unknown never to be seen again, I thought this would be as good a place as any to create a "registry" of those who picked one up.  You don't have to give any personal detail about yourself, maybe just a simple listing of first name, geographical location, and the serial number from your Purple Tribute.  I'll kick it off...

Name:  Ron K.
Location:  Indiana, USA
Serial Number: pt6048

And please note, I'm not doing this to "rub it in people's faces" that only a select few of us were able to get one of these.  I wish that Warmoth would have been able to produce as many of these as there were people who wanted one, but that wasn't the case.

I just thought it would be cool to be able to keep track of these guitars, at least to some extent, and provide a place where owners could share their experiences with others who might be interested.  Post up about neck choices, pickups, build details, pics of the guitars during the build process, or completed and being used in gig situations.  And who knows, somewhere down the line some of the original owners might be looking to part with theirs.  What better place to let that be known.  The new owner could even take over that spot in the registry!

I'll be interesting to see if we're able to get all seven owners to check in.

Peace,

Ron

Congrats on snagging one! Those went very fast.

I know at least one other Purple Tribute owner has been posting here on UW. It will be interesting to see how many other owners find this thread.

I'm a member of the much larger club: "guys who missed the boat," haha! I do hope that your idea catches on, and I hope that everyone posts pictures!

Alright I'll join in. I'm curious about the others too and it would be swell to get completed pics from as many of the builds as possible.

I also snagged the images below hopefully others have too...

Mine is PT6055.
I think it was the lightest one available at 4lbs., 10oz.

Name:  Paul D.

So far that makes four new forum members that have one of the purple tributes.

So welcome to all four of you and look forward to seeing what you all build.

Three left...

I didn't think of grabbing the online pic of mine.

The images are still available, just replace the serial number and a-d in the link, e.g.:

http://images.warmoth.com/Showcase/images/bodies/large/SNa.jpg

becomes:

http://images.warmoth.com/Showcase/images/bodies/large/PT6048a.jpg
http://images.warmoth.com/Showcase/images/bodies/large/PT6048b.jpg
http://images.warmoth.com/Showcase/images/bodies/large/PT6048c.jpg
http://images.warmoth.com/Showcase/images/bodies/large/PT6048d.jpg

Incidentally, the serial numbers appear to be:

PT6048
PT6055
PT6056
PT6057
PT6058
PT6059
PT6060

Thank you!  That's pretty sweet.  Now I have it.

Once mine arrives, it will probably go on a shelf at least for a few months.  I'll need to restock the coffers before I'll be able to complete it the way I'd like.  $$$$$$

I'm thinking a 1-piece flame maple Tele neck in vintage tint, white Corian standard nut, black dots (MAYBE black MOP), slim profile, 10-16" radius and 6150 frets.  Vintage Gotoh tuners.

For pickups, I'm thinking about a Rio Grande Vintage Tallboy in the neck, and a Seymour Duncan Twang Banger in the bridge.

I may even save myself a little time with the soldering iron and pick up one of these too:  https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Telecaster-Loaded-Control-Switch/dp/B0089NNAZ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476824560&sr=8-1&keywords=pre-wired+telecaster+control

I guess it's good to have plans.  :)

I'm kinda disappointed no one has suggested purpleheart necks for these bodies. I can dream.

Congrats to you guys. I look forward to seeing the progress on them. They're a fine grab.

I got my UPS ship notification for the neck and body today and received a decal in the mail that looked an awful lot like the ones on the 70s version.

I went with:
- righteous sound redwood pickups http://www.righteoussoundpickups.com/strats
- a pre-wired 4 way + treble bleed assembly from atlantic custom guitars https://reverb.com/brand/atlantic-custom-guitars

If folks haven't found the madcat fan site for the original 70s version, it is here. http://www.madcat.ch/

P.S. I have a Rio Grande bbq bucker in my hybrid telecaster and I love it. I think I read somewhere that Prince put Fender noiseless pups in his.

For those of you building these something to think about as I notice a number of you discussing Tele Pickups.

These bodies are routed for Strat Pickups, which are of a different dimension and the mounting is different.  Especially the bridge a Tele has three mounting screws in a triangular type of configuration and the strats have two. So if you check the bridge mounting for the plastic provided that should confirm.

So if you are making plans go in the direction of parts that will fit.

Wait who is getting stickers?
Just the people who ordered the bodies or good looking people.
If it's the later I ain't getting any, I am hideous.

Post pictures of those stickers.

Warmoth sent you the Madcat sticker? If not where did you get that?

I said that Warmoth did not send me one sticker, that is the one that they didn't send.

Etiquette for the 'questionable' practice of putting on decals with manufacturer names appears to be to leave where you got them from unnamed but there might not be anymore, so you might have to search completed listings to find it if you were so inclined.
