Who knows? I mean, you wanna ask me what size jock strap you should buy? How should I know? Whatever's comfortable for you. Personally, I think everybody should play Standard Thin necks, because to me that's the best profile/contour you can get. For you, that may not work out. Depends on what you're used to, what you're comfortable with, your playing style, what you might want to graduate into... the list is long.

As far as mechanics goes, the neck has more to say about the "tone" of the instrument than the body does, and thicker necks usually translate into greater sustain and more articulation. But, if you're the type to have a death grip on the neck, a thicker part may or may not get in your way. If you paid attention to your teacher and you keep your palm off the neck, then contour is less of an issue. I don't think hand size matters as much as some believe, but if you feel that could be an issue, then shoulder slopes and thickness might affect you more than some. Lotta variables, is what I'm trying to say. Makes it tough to give any advice.

I believe they are asking what is the Warmoth neck equivalent to a baja tele or strat special.  That's a pretty specific question if you ask me.  To use your snarky example, it would be like them saying..."My wang is the same size as Ron Jeremy's, what size jock strap should I buy?"

Wellla78, there are other companies who could probably do an exact match if you gave the make and model of the neck you are looking for.  As for Warmoth, I believe the boat neck is closer to a baja than the fatback.  It's only a guess, but chances are the Strat you played had the standard thin profile

Good answer. Beliefs and guesses are always better than general information that educates in the absence of empirical data  :laughing7:

Don't know about the Baja Tele, but I've played quite a few Am Special Strats. For some reason all the Maple fretboard examples I've played have had fairly big C shaped necks, while the Rosewood version is closer to the Fender modern C shape if not exactly that. So if it was Maple I'd say the Warmoth Fatback may be pretty close, while the Standard Thin will be closest to the Modern C. The last ST I got from Warmoth was almost identical in size to the neck on my '08 Am Std Strat. I favour the Warmoth for its 10-16" radius, Pau Ferro fretboard, and 6150 SS frets. While not exact, the 6150s are closest to Fenders medium Jumbos, while the 6100's are close to Fenders full Jumbo fret size which is what you would have played in the A S Strat. Oh yeh, and Fenders have a 9.5" fretboard radius too!

Is there any way you can get a set of calipers on that Tele?

I found measuring your favorite neck with a set of calipers then bouncing it off the Warmoth shapes to work well.
