HELP with speednobs

Doing some final assembly for my warmoth project and running into a small inconvenience.    I have the warmoth pots and their amber speed knobs, however, they don't seem to be mating very well.  On my first go, I pushed so hard that I broke the pot into two pieces in the rear.

What is the trick.  Do I need to ream out the inside of the knobs a bit?  I have heard hot water works too, but I feel that won't be enough in this case.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

If you have split-shaft pots, ever so gently you can squeeze them closer together, check fit, repeat further if needed.  Very small movements, very little effort to push down.

I've only ever rarely had to ream the inside of the knob, mainly 'cause they were cheap knobs.
