Headstock Logos: Same song 2nd verse

Sorry, but it was ME that took the angle grinder to the headstock to remove a decal. It looks quite nice! And I never lost a nut!

You know, I changed my mind: it is a fender licensed part... So it's really not so different than a neck made by fender in a fender factory in fenderland. Putting the logo on it makes it seem like fender can make much better parts than they actually do, but if W's licensing from fender, it seems like a win win situation.

I await the flames with taning oil.
 
I'm thinking like this.

It's a Fender licensed replacemenet neck. It's supposed to go on a real Fender. If the neck is good enough to be a Fender neck, why can it not have a Fender label on it? I don't think Fender has special magic machines which makes anything they create 10x better than other companies, and I bet no one would be able to tell the difference between a Warmoth and a Fender neck. After all, Warmoth is making them to Fender's instructions.

Sure, selling it as an "authentic Fender" might be lying a bit, but you could do that with any kind of neck. If you put on a Warmoth you're at least selling a really good neck.

I don't think it's a big issue, people get scammed for worse things than a brand name.

The Warmoth Pro is far from anything Fender is offering.  Not to mention, they offer fretboard radii and neck contours that F doesn't.  Anyone knowing what they're looking at would know it wasn't a Fender.

However, even w/out any decal, I've had one of mine mistaken for a Fender because of the headstock shape.

Warmoth may correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Fender license is technically for the
right to use Fender's headstock shape (CBS porn-star, smaller 50s style, etc).

...had an extra headstock decal, so I built a new guitar around it.

Where are the 12-step meetings held again?  :toothy11:

Did you coat it with laquer? How does the quality seem, did you prepare the surface at all, if so, how, it sticks good, etc. etc.? LOL.

haha alright, well first off i couldn't be more of the opposite than the guy who should be refinishing anything. i shouldn't be allowed to touch paint or clear coating supplies of any kind. but CB gave me some pretty decent instructions. it was pretty easy. it was nerve-racking but i think it turned out pretty well i think!
 
Welp, the head whistle blower for the logo police deleted it's account.  Now who will I give my email and phone # to once Fender's Loss Prevention and Fraud Department contacts this concerned citizen?  I guess I'll just have to turn myself in.
