Has anyone used a bugera v5 or BC15?

Pretty good for the money on first impression.  Didn't really have much time to try them however since I was shopping for something larger anyway.

I've heard great and terrible things about those amps. They seem to sound very good for the money but not really well built. A friend of mine broke 2 in a few months, but he's in a brutal death metal band so it's not like he was taking care of them anyways :party07:

I'm curious to know how the death metal fried the amps. I bet he was using high output pickups. I wonder if he breaks Grover tuners too.

Insight: They're made in China by Behringer. Some people really like 'em.

Recommendation: Play one in a music store (or make use of MF's 45-day return policy) to find out if it's the sound you like.

Further recommendations:  :rock-on:

It's just that the guy doesn't really take care of his stuff :P

Played one recently at GC. It blew away a Jet City (which is supposed to be owned by Soldano). Idk if that means anything.  :dontknow:

What, a Mayfly BC15?  Killer amp from what I hear.

Bugera?  Haven't tried it.

I don't know anything about the BC15, but I have a V5 here. Had a couple V55s as well until this week. Contrary to some reports by the astroturfers, the construction of these things is first-rate, better than some big-name amps I could mention. Professionally laid out heavy-duty circuit boards, high-quality components, ceramic tube sockets, orderly wiring, etc. Cabinet and covering fit and finish is great. If you didn't know any better, you'd expect the pricing on these things to be much, much higher. I'm sure I took a pile of pictures when I disassembled the thing, but I'll be damned if I can find them. I'll update later if they show up.

Anyway, the V5 has a very good clean sound, but I'm not as impressed with the "dirty" sound. Gain and volume are separate, so you can overdrive it nicely, but I would have liked more saturation. That's just me, though. It's an all-tube path, with 12AX7 pre amp and EL-84 power amp tubes. The reverb is solid-state, but it's very clean and realistic sounding, unlike some analog tanks, but it is possible to adjust it too far so it sounds cheesy. Of course, that's true of most SS reverbs.

It's pretty nice for a little practice amp. Of the various 5 to 12 watters out there, this is the one I'd recommend.
