Harmonic Designs Z-90

Anyone have any experience with these? Only a few youtube vids out there and fewer hands on reviews. I've read everything from "Great authentic P-90 sound" to "Not a P-90 sound but cool anyway".

I don't have first-hand experience, but I believe you can get an idea what they sound like by checking out Bill Frisell's "Good Dog, Happy Man" album.  At one time (maybe still) HD's website claimed they sent Bill a pickup and he immediately put it to work on that album.


I happen to really like the sounds Frisell got on that record, but I'm kind of a Bill Frisell fanboi anyway.  YMMV.

I played a set of Z-90s for a few months and thought they sounded terrific through a tweed era amp, but were just a bit too much for a modern toned amp. They are just EQ'd perfectly for a vintage amp.
