I'd like to install this bridge on a showcase body I'll be ordering soon: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Electric_guitar,_non-trem_bridges/Gotoh_Hardtail_Bridge.html

What bridge route option should I choose to fit that bridge?

Read the "Misc. Comments:" in the first post.  Warmoth doesn't drill mounting holes for this bridge, but maybe you can.  I think if you have decent alignment skills, you can get away with using the string-thru for aligning purposes and drill your own mounting holes.  Just take your time, double and tripple check, and don't be in hurry.

You would have to pay extra for that bridge rout.

"Ask us about doing
these bridge routs by hand for you!
FISHMAN TELE 101 BRIDGE
FISHMAN POWERBRIDGE HARDTAIL
FISHMAN T.O.M.
FISHMAN TSV POWERBRIDGE
LR BAGGS T.O.M
LR BAGGS X TREM
LR BAGGS HARDTAIL
SCHALLER 494 STOP TAIL PIECE W/FINE TUNERS
SCHALLER STM MODEL 451, 452 OR 453
GIBSON B-0510-010 SG STYLE T.O.M.
HIPSHOT TREMOLO
HIPSHOT FLAT MOUNT SB 5105-010
FENDER AMERICAN STANDARD HARDTAIL
GOTOH 510 TS-RS1 2-HOLE TREMOLO
GOTOH 101
CARVIN FTG HARDTAIL

Please keep in mind there may be different variations of these bridges
or manufacturer changes in the dimensions. For this reason you must send the
exact bridge you plan to use to us for dimensional verification.

This custom feature is $45 extra."

I guess I could try to align it myself but I don't know if it's worth the trouble for my first ever build. I wasn't sure between this Gotoh bridge and a recessed Wilkinson trem, I guess I'll go with the Wilkinson since they have the route option on Warmoth.

Thanks for the help man

Are the string-thru holes in the same place for several different types of bridge then? I saw a body on ebay recently that was routed for a Tele bridge pickup but a Strat flatmount bridge and I was wondering if it would be possible to put a Tele bridge on instead by using the same string-through holes and re-drilling just the screw holes.

I didn't bid for it in the end because I decided I have to finish working on my existing guitars before I start building one.

What's wrong with the Strat Flatmount that they offer, or even the $45 upcharge for it to be right?

I think the Gotoh 101 looks cleaner, that's just me being picky :P

And I live in Canada so I think it's too much trouble sending them the bridge etc etc...

I like the Gotoh too, but the Strat Flatmount is closer than a Tremolo.

Oh I actually don't really mind having a tremolo, it's just a bit of trouble to set up for the minimal use I'll make of it with this guitar.

What's the trouble? All you have to do is take it to the post office, same as you would if they were in the next city. If I were you and I wanted that Gotoh bridge I wouldn't cut any corners. You should get what you originally wanted because you'll always have that little twinge of regret. Trust me, filling out a customs form and paying an extra 50 bucks is worth it.

You're absolutely right, but I really like both the hardtail and the tremolo, It's just that the hardtail would've been easier to setup for my first build :P

Next one will have the hardtail :icon_biggrin:

If you never use a trem (and let's face it most people never do) I would get the hardtail. Warmoth's basic narrow mount hardtail is a fine bridge, nothing wrong with it, and you can change the saddles out later if you want. Hardtails are easier to deal with than trems in a number of ways - if you like hardtail, and you want to keep your build simple, get hardtail.

I think you convinced me to go with the vintage flat mount :P

but.. what's the right option?? I only see trems :\

that body can only have tremolo bridges. you need to pick a body that doesn't have a tremolo cavity in the back, or build a fresh one in the body builder.

Yea actually I'm undecided between vintage white, light yellow or a nice tobacco burst

EDIT: Hey.. I want to add that vintage white body to the basket but I need to choose a bridge route? What's up with that, why can't I just keep the flat mount?

EDIT EDIT: Nevermind, the configurator was just bugged :)

You can use the gotoh on the vintage strat flat mount option but you will have to open the thru-holes up to mate with the gotoh and drill holes for the mounting.

It will look okay but installing string can be a PITA.
