Glossy poly wipe-on is not coming out glossy

So I'm using Varathane oil-based glossy wipe-on poly on a neck...and it's coming out satin, not glossy.
What's the trick?

And then successive sand downs, then a buff. I bought a car buffer at a local auto supply store.

yeah, a buffer, or just a shammy cloth, though the buffer will be more efficient, with some meguire's scratch x. Wait unitl the poly has cured.

Don’t rush any of this process either. It takes time for a reason. Some science can’t take place any faster. Physics are what they are. Take the time to get the best results.

I just read this:
"Oil-based polyurethane typically takes 3-4 weeks to fully cure."

Guess I'll be waiting a while before I try buffing.

Already have buffing compounds.

Be careful with those drill attachments, you can burn through very easily. The actual polisher/buffers are a Dual Action Random Orbital and generally quite a bit slower RPM than a drill.
