If done on a plain top and not a fancy quilty or flamey job, I think the fad/grow tired of factor would go down a bit.  It is still a burst with black edges afterall.  Keep it simple, and it's classic.

I'm not quite sure if I like the black/green/yellow bursts. Sometimes I think I do, sometimes I think not. They do grab attention, I'm just not certain if I could stare at it for 20 years.

I've been looking at my WIP waiting on the neck, and I'm pretty sure I won't grow tried of it. I'll have photos when complete but seeing the body with pg and pickups sitting a few feet from me it makes perfect sense.

That's pretty much where I'm coming from too. This won't be relic'd like I originally planned...  to me it looks very classic Strat, with just a kind of reptilian twist to it. It doesn't seem out of place to me at all really, where binding and elaborate quilts and AAAAA flames would. I mean what is this but swapping out a brown or reddish section of burst for a woodland green?

Also, from wikipedia entry for "Green"

"Green is also known to have signified witchcraft, devilry and evil for its association with faeries and spirits of early English folklore. It also had an association with decay and toxicity [...] The color, when combined with gold, is seen as representing the fading of youth."

Ok,

a) That all sounds pretty metal, and
b) I do turn 35 this month

Yep, I saw that one over the weekend myself.  Somebody did a nice job.  I think I would have gone with black or cream tops on the Z90's, but even so, it's a sweet body.

i would seriously consider it if i hadnt spent most of my doe on crap. the dollar to pound conversion rate would make that an absolute STEAL!

I don't normally dig any inlays (freudian typo, I first said inlaws...) besides dots. BUT... I could almost see this on my project, except it would necessitate another project because it's 25.5" scale.

A looker soloist:

And another demon posessed top with at least three faces in it, two of which will have to be covered up by bridge & bridge pickup.

A hate the binding on that last one, but man the figure & color. Looks like its on fire.

I dunno why. But I suddenly got GAS for one of the NAMM-new Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmasters

I never really cared for Jazzmasters before ...?!

:dontknow:
That's pretty cool, sans the ginormous headstock....It needs the above Jackson style neck in reverse.... :headbang1:

Not the Jackson headstock. A Firebird headstock.  :headbang1: :headbang1: :headbang1:

I really like that Soloist body...

slp142a.jpg

Koa over mahogany w/ a contoured heel? Plus, that brown burst is sweet. What could possibly be wrong with all that? But $462 (regularly $550) seems a bit much. What the hell is it with Soloists that makes them so expensive? It's not even a carved top. Still... I could see me sporting one of those little lovelies.

As an aside to the Warmoth folks...

The order page allows you to choose pickup cavity routings when it clearly already has them, which makes many of the choices impossible. There may be a bug in the configuration software. Either that, or whoever lists the things may have had a brain fart <grin>
