Well that was an efficient way to turn all those multipart bodies into a sale. :D

I hope some of those flakes become permanent!

Aloha, brothers and sisters -

Yeah, I succumbed a couple weeks ago, and now she's here. I picked up this gorgeous baritone Warhead neck that I expect to pair with my super-sale-priced basswood Strat body. Populated with stainless 6115 frets. Good times.

For now, enjoy these boudoir shots from the website:

Aloha!

What kind of finish do you plan for the neck?

Probably straight tung oil. I had a tung-oiled Carvin neck for years that I just loved. I'll roll the dice on the warranty.

As someone who has recently been hooked onto the Showcase watch, I was thinking back to something Aaron said about how peculiar it is that someone would wait indefinitely for something to show up on the Showcase when they, in the time it takes for that "something" to show up, could have just ordered something that would have met their exact needs and had it delivered to them, possibly in less time.

Having dissected this behavior on my own part, I think it can be reduced to two factors:
1) There's an almost pseudo-manufactured rarity/curiosity that comes with a neck that Warmoth comes up with independent of what customers usually request. Sometimes when I see a neck, I'll look at the specs and it's fun to think about it in terms of what it might be trying to be, or what the design philosophy behind it was. There's a Gibson-scale Warhead neck somewhere near the bottom that has a painted veneer headstock (Northern Lights I think?) that I sometimes look at and think about in these terms.

2) I find that necks can sometimes offer a great source of inspiration for a build all on their own for a build. I know the appeal of Warmoth is to have something designed to the individual's exacting standards, customized to the nth degree, but I find the Showcase is an avenue to find new things I might not have considered trying before, and dreaming up builds that complete the picture. Obviously it then becomes a matter of actually investing in the build from a time and financial perspective, but that's a separate issue altogether.

Just random musings. It'd be fun to hear what everyone else thinks.
