GAS Alert!!!!

Both version look great. But after staring at them for a while, there was something about the color on the headstock that went better with the parchment pickguard for me.

Tortoise? Really?  Well, in that case I think I'm kinda partial to the quartersawn goncalo they got.  Funny, I find the building to be pretty easy and straight forward.  It's the component selection I find difficult.  Sorry for posting these to the gas thread, but, let's face it, it's definitely a gas thing.

That looks nice, Ghotiphry. Another option would be to paint the headstock silver or black and go with the black pickguard. That would cover up that beautiful wood, though.

Ok, I'll be the bad guy. That's an absolutely gorgeous neck, and I like the body finish as well. But, that neck does not work on that body, and the tortoiseshell pickguard only makes it worse. Add the chrome hardware and black pickups/knobs to it, and the whole thing becomes a platypus. You look at it and you gotta wonder...

I'm with Cagey.  Too much going on.  I don't think the GA neck goes with the grey body, nor with the striped neck.

Yup.  That's what I thought.  Thanks, guys, I needed the "bad guy" approach.  Honestly, I couldn't tell if it "worked" or not.  Back to the drawing board.  With the neutrality of the gray I was hoping to do something a little more radical with the neck.

Ya, that's what I thought too.  A little playing I came back with this.  Roasted maple and black accents.  Yes? No? Maybe?  You mind if I hijack the GAS thread for my own use?

For as often as this sort of thing happens around here, I'm wondering if we need not just a thread, but a whole folder dedicated to plotting and planning.

I'm no bassist, but that goncalo alves neck is almost enough to turn me into one. That must be close to the nicest part I've seen in my (short) time here.

It is a nice piece, isn't it.

I see also a big Indian!
Indião (or big indian) is the nickname of the stadium of Chapecoense football team, the team that the plane just collapsed on the ground, last night, killing more than 70 players, journalists and crew.
We are all very emotional, as it is a new team, very small, with great charisma and is having the best year of their history, facing as equal teams with budgets hundreds of times bigger... 6 years ago they were on the 4th division of the brazillian championship, tomorrow they were going to play the first international final of their history, in Colômbia, for a latin america championship...
Nobody is sure how they will play next year, as there were players, technical crew and board of directors on the flight...
