The ONE single amazing this is that Shellac sticks to ANYTHING, even if it was treated prior with a Silicon based polish.

And Most any finish will stick to shellac, so it is a great sand sealer for new work , and Base for refinishing :headbang1:

That is good info.  I always thought violin finish would look good on a strat. It would be awesome to lay down shellac and then put down something a bit more durable to keep it looking solid for years.
