This is my 4000th post.

Accordingly, here is a set of random images I got in response to "four thousand" on Google image search:

Congrats on the milestone!

If you ever want to see something like this in real life, go to Niagra Falls in late January, early February. A lotta that kinda thing to see.

The non-stop mist gets on everything and freezes and builds, creating some amazing scenery. Don't waste your time on the Buffalo side - go to Canada. Night and day.

No, it's Bagman who's hit the milestone, at 4K posts. I'm out past Pluto. You can call me "V'ger".

What the hell is "RS-232"?

Alas, Persis Khambatta is no more.  Left us young, at age 49, in 1998.  But I get where you're coming from.

Aw, geez! I didn't know. That's too bad. Sorry for joking around about her.

Your picture is actually St. Joseph, MI (on Lake Michigan), from a couple weeks ago.  Pretty cool eh?
My friend was there this summer. Here's what it usually looks like:

I don't now how anyone goes swimming in Lake Michigan. It's always seriously cold. I used to live on that side of the state and visited the dunes all the time, but stayed out of the water. Last time I tried to just wade in a bit, my feet cramped almost immediately. It's not as bad as Lake Superior, which is literally lethally cold year-round. I mean, you fall in that, you're living the last 4 minutes of your life. Still - there are plenty of inland lakes that warm up nicely. No need to mess around in the big water.

I've swam in all the great lakes. Superior & Huron, naturally, were the coldest.  Although it seems to not be far off temp from the Atlantic in Maine.
