Flame maple fretboard on plain maple?

Does anyone happen to know if it is possible to order a flame maple board on a plain maple neck? The builder does not allow this combo, and didn't know if it was possible if you call.

Give them a call and then you will know for sure. I can't see why it would not be possible.

Yeah, call. The "Builder" has to do a lot of exception handling, and sometimes an anomaly shows up. I know one time I wanted a bound black ebony fretboard, but it wouldn't let me do it because I didn't want it fretted. Anyway, called and got surprise as a response. "Really?" Yes, really. So, he said to just include a note on the order.
