fixing a tru oil finish

Hello,

I was wondering: if I finish my next black korina guitar with tru oil and then use Meguiar`s crystal clear and/or carnauba wax to give it a more glossy look, how can I fix the finish if it gets scratched ?
I mean, if I want to fix that with a few more coats of tru oil every now and then, will the Meguiars or the wax be a problem?
how do you guys do this, do you somehow remove the polishing and the wax before you apply the tru oil again?

thanks

Marco

Wax won't be a problem.

Just wash off the surface with mineral spirits, naptha, or heck, you can use mild soap and water on cured Tru-oil, prior to any re-application or re-touching.

Tru-oil is intended to be used on gun stocks - the kind that get carried out in the wind, rain, snow, sun for days on end and then come home to get doused with gun cleaning solvents - it's pretty tough stuff.

things like Meguire's x, will shine up your guitar.  wipe it off with naptha. then put on your wax (but tru-oil doesn't need it).  If you need to get off the wax, agian use naptha
