Fixed bridge for strat

I'm busy putting a Stratocaster together and on that I'm getting a VS100 bridge. I have a MIM which I have dismantled and going to refinish and I am thinking to put a fixed bridge on that. Has anyone got any experience with Start fixed bridges and what's good and what's not please?
Cheers - Ed

I find the Hipshot vintage stainless hardtail to be solid and comfortable.

It's a lot cheaper here (55 bucks, vs. 70), where I bought it:

Thanks Bagman. There's a lot of stuff on that site that interests me actually. So, would one of these hardtail bridges fit over the big rectangular hole in the Strat body? Anyone know if there will be anything I need to do to get the scale length sorted out and any other pitfalls?

ah, youre switching from trem to fixed...you'd need to fill the whole cavity, or at least a fair bit of it.

You might be better off blocking a tremolo bridge - it'd be a lot easier.

You are better off just blocking the mim bridge - there used to be a "droptop" brand hardtail conversion bridge out there, but I think it's discontinued. In any case, 5 springs nice and tight will do the trick pretty well at minimal cost and hassle. None of the aftermarket hardtail strat bridges will cover the little extra space on the right, to say nothing of the mounting screws.
