Fitting bridge posts

Couldn't find anything about this with a search, probably just because the search terms involved return so many matches.

I've got a Floyd on the way, and I need to put the inserts into the body. I'm happy to just put a block of wood on top and tap them in, but I just wanted to check: should I remove the finish from inside the holes first? I'm assuming yes.

It's not entirely necessary, but if you don't, it makes it harder to start them on their merry way into their final resting places.

I agree with Cagey's comment plus the fact that if you don't, the finish could crack at contact, and worst case scenario, I've seen that happen to where the crack extended out past the post. Very miniscule and not really noticeable, but just to be on the safe side.

I had a look, and in the end the amount of finish in there was tiny, no buildup at all. So I just put the posts in, and they went in nicely. Although doing anything with a hammer near that piece of wood is a bit nerve-racking.
