The first episode can be found here. In short, there was a problem with the finish of the neck I had ordered, and after getting some advice I decided to return it. It was, at this point, a less than heartening first experience.

Enter Rob and his customer support powers, and a few weeks later the delivery man finally rings at my door.

To be fair, I was not particularly excited, fearing another unexpected complication. And... well, I'll let the pictures talk.

Needless to say, I am really excited. Not only is there nothing wrong, but the neck actually looks even better than the showcase pictures suggested. I really love the flame on the back & sides, as well as the subdued fingerboard — some might call it plain, but I did not want it to look busy. There is some slight flame that is quite hard to capture, maybe the finish will reveal it, but even if it does not it will be fine. This is what I was looking for in the first place.

The specs :

• Vintage Modern construction
• One piece flame maple
• 1-11/16" nut width
• GraphTech White TUSQ nut
• Boatneck contour
• SS6150 frets
• 10-16" compound radius
• Vintage Tuner holes
• No finish

The boatneck profile is surprising — it looks huge (straight line from the heel to the headstock), but feels great in the hand, I expect it to be quite comfortable. It will be quite a departure from what I am used to (Ibanez Super Wizard) but I wanted this neck to be meaty.

Stainless steel frets, of course, I'm glad I read your praises about them while negociating the return. The tuners will be Gotoh SD91 HAPM (Kluson style, locking & height-adjustable). The finish will most certainly be Tru-oil (I'll open a thread in the DIY finishing section and report the progress for anyone interested).

In the end, I'm really happy with the outcome of this first purchase. And big thanks to Rob who handled everything perfectly.

That is one sweet neck!  kudos...Warmoth always takes care of its customers..... :headbang:

Congratulations.  I got a boatneck for Bête Noire that I just love.  Beefy, and certainly nobody's idea of a slim neck, but it's reassuring to have that hunk of lumber to do damage with.

And finishing will definitely bring out whatever flame you have. Here's Bête Noire's neck before and after Tru-Oil finish was applied.
